Nestled in the woods just sixty miles south of Chicago on the Illinois/Indiana border, this little cabin is the perfect weekend getaway. The host provides two kayaks for the summer months, a yard with a dock on the Kankakee River, and a bonfire pit. There is a kitchen with basic needs, although no water/toilet during the winter months (which we were aware and prepared to rough-it for a night). There's a bedroom with a double bed and a hammock cot, and plenty of space to pop up an air mattress or two. The cabin is heated by a wood burning stove and makes for a very cozy, fun night in. Pets are allowed and my dogs enjoyed the weekend to roam around the woods and the river. The host was also very responsive to questions and with recommendations.

This place was exactly what we needed! Couldn’t possibly be closer to the river and we were tucked in there really well, couldn’t believe the privacy! Can’t wait to go back again and have already scheduled our next stay :)

Arlo was a great host, very responsive and accommodating. The river is beautiful and it was fun to have the kayaks on site. It was an easy trip from Chicago but felt like another world. We enjoyed the grill and fire pit and the cabin was comfortable. There were some loud motors and some loud music playing in the area during the day, but at night it was quiet, the stars were gorgeous and we could hear all the animals and birds singing their songs. The best part was sitting on the dock with our coffee or drinks watching the river and the wildlife. Very peaceful.

We absolutely loved this cabin. I came with my family (husband, and two boys - 3 years old and 4 months old). I had to work during the day and the boys stayed at the cabin. Arlo left us great instructions. The cabin was clean and furnished with the basics (beds, loveseat, chairs, dining table, patio furniture, hammock, folding chairs). This location is amazing. It’s so secluded and right on the river. We felt like it was all ours! Kayaks were provided (we never took the opportunity to use them, however) and there is a boat launch spot for anyone bringing their own. There is a larger town about 25 minutes away for getting groceries or other essential items. We spent our stay just enjoying the peace and quiet away from home.
