Description

Just 50 miles from Chi-town, Channahon Campground is named after the Native American word meaning “the meeting of the waters.” It’s located along the DuPage, Kankakee and Des Plaines Rivers, which makes canoeing a option for accessing Gebhard Woods. Lallos Bar & Grill is a local favorite Mexican joint within walking distance of the park. Grilling is fun and all, but sometimes you just want a burrito the size of small baby.

Biked from Chicago down the I&M trail. Campground is directly off the main trail; you take a 25ft side trail into an open field and you are in the middle of the campground. On the other side of the park is a lake/pond and a basic suburban park. Went mid-summer and our bike group were the only people in the campground; there were a lot of mosquitoes. Had a great time grilling, drinking, relaxing.
