This is one of the largest wooded areas of Historic Alton, IL, "One of the Most Haunted Small Towns in America."

They were once owned by Eunice Smith, the daughter of the founder of Illinois Glass (later to become Owens-Illinois world leader in glass bottle manufacturer) and is located at the confluence of Smith Ave. & Kennedy Ave. But, why was the paving of Smith Ave., the only one named after Enice Smith, cut short? Why did these woods stop the workers from completing the job? What's so special about this place? Was the forest too costly to develop further or was it something else?

Spend the night and find out.

In the meantime there are endless amounts of activities in the area to occupy your time including the Mighty Mississippi.
