One of the largest wooded areas of Historic Alton, IL, "One of the Most Haunted Small Towns in America." It was once owned by Eunice Smith, the daughter of the founder of Illinois Glass (later to become Owens-Illinois world leader in glass bottle manufacturer) and is located at the confluence of Smith Ave. & Kennedy Ave. But, why was the paving of Smith Ave., the only one named after Enice Smith, cut short? Why did these woods stop the workers from completing the job? What's so special about this place? Was the forest too costly to develop further or something else? Spend the night and find out. Understand the campground is described as haunted. If you last till dawn you will be one of the few to last that long. If you film your stay, you can use the footage in an audition for “Ghost Camp,” a paranormal reality TV in production. https://facebook.com/events/s/ghost-camp/3064723156932010 In the meantime there are endless amounts of activities in the area including the Mighty Mississippi.

Host was nice but i dont think hes been to this property in some time. First we followed the directions listed and it ended up at the end of a street in one of the worst neighborhoods ive ever seen and every single person was standing outside staring at us like a horror movie. Did not feel safe at all so we got out of there and tried to contact the host to see if there was another place we could park. He gave us another street to go to the end of and told us there should be no one there. When we got there we couldnt even get to the house he said to park by because there were 5 or 6 broken down cars just sitting and the end of the street. As both camping and paramormal enthusiasts we were really excited for this trip but this is a far stretch from a campsite. Its woods in a high crime area right in the middle of a crowded neighborhood. I cant judge the inside of the woods because we never went in due to these circumstances so after spending $50 to reserve this spot with
no refunds and a 3 hour drive there to turn around and have to go home really ruined our holiday. My advice give this property more care if you want to turn it into a campground. Get some fencing and security so your campers feel safe. We were hoping to get scared about ghosts not getting mugged and shot
