About Pasture by Tamarack Grove
Enjoy camping in a rural location not far from the small town of Hayden (sister to Coeur d'Alene). We have a wooded hillside with many tamaracks, and an open grassy pasture. The property is 5 acres in total, most of which we rarely visit and would love to have folks enjoy the place. You will occasionally hear trains passing about 1 mile away, which we find enjoyable.
We are 8 minutes from Silverwood theme park, if that is your thing. The Coeur d'Alene National Forest is about 4 miles down the road, and OHVs and such can drive from here to there legally. We are also about 4-5 miles from Hayden Lake and closest boat launch. Please note this camping location spans 4 acres of a 5 acre property, with 1 acre being or residence and yard. The main camping area is out of sight from the house for to distance and trees.

The vibe at Pasture by Tamarack Grove
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We were Andy's first guests! Andy was accommodating and helpful. The place was close to town. He was still working on the site when we stayed there a week or two before the eclipse so I'd bet it's improved recently. It sounded like he had big plans for the site. The stars were very visible at night and the spot was nice and secluded. The dirt road to the site was very narrow, but Andy helped guide us through the tightest part in our huge 2017 Ford 150 4x4 double cab pick-up truck. I liked that this place was about people helping people. We set up our tent in a dirt patch in the pasture that Andy had recently made with his tractor. The rest of the pasture was a little lumpy still. It didn't rain during our stay, but if it had, we probably would have taken Andy up on his offer to let us stay in the dirt-floor barn just before the pasture. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a cheap, private, convenient, and welcoming place to camp.
We loved how quiet, relaxed, and remote this property was. It was nice to pull in, set up camp, and just let the stress of life melt away. Our two dogs ran and ran and ran and had the best time possible. We highly recommend this place to hang a hammock, set up a tent, and let the worries of life fade away. This was such a great place for us to stop on our trip from Portland to Bozeman! Thank you so much for hosting us on your wonderful slice of Idaho!
We just returned from a five day stay at Tamarack Grove. My family really enjoyed the meadow, great well water, and the lonesome train whistle at night.
Andy was very helpful and friendly. He let us enjoy ourselves, but he was there when we needed him. Excellent chap, he is.
It will be fun to return to see the improvements he has planned for his property. Best of luck to you, Andy!
