Moonshadow Ranch Season #2 We want to welcome Everyone for our second season! We loved having our guests so much were going for it again! As in last years listing, We have a large area where we can host campers. The lots are primitive and rustic but we are improving all the time. They are still quiet, comfortable and full of hospitality! We are located at the mouth of the Big lost River Range under King mountain. We can accommodate tenters, self contained campers, trailers and RV's. (Campers be reminded that there are no services usually) I do have a running hydrant that can be used for fresh water within the camping area and ** THE OUT HOUSE IS UP AND USEABLE! ** I do have areas for campfires and firewood for sale with a portion of the sale donated to our local private animal rescue. As always our valley has a lot to offer for our visitors. There is the Atomic days celebration in Arco Every third weekend in July. There is the King Mountain car show in June, just 1/2mi from the MSR. There are many celestial events this summer. On July 15 Moon Meets Venus. July 27 a total lunar eclipse for our area. July 27 also Mars is to be at its closest. August 11 a partial solar eclipse in the early morning as the sun rises. August 12/13 is the Perseid Meteor Shower (If this is anything like the one on December 14 2017 It will be wonderful) and on December 12 there is to be a comet encounter. (Now I know this isn't the camping season and temperatures and season will be a factor but if anyone is interested in coming to this event we'll see what we can do for accommodating you) During last seasons total eclipse the days prior and after The campers all were amazed at the view of the stars here, so seeing these events should be a worthwhile treat. 2018 summer is the American Solar Car Challenge which is to pass through Arco on there way to Oregon.(specific dates aren't know yet) The Route starts in Hastings NE and ends in Bend OR. Craters Of the Moon National Monument has frequent astronomy watching throughout the summer. It is a short distance from MSR and is worth the trip most of our last season campers went and were impressed with its scenery and history. We have a lot to offer for anyone who likes the great outdoors and high mountain scenery. We pride ourselves with old style hospitality and we love meeting every one of our campers. Hiking, biking, fishing, sightseeing, sailplanes, hang gliders, paragliders, solar cars, lots to do and plenty to see what more can you ask for right! And of course the occasional wildlife visits. (From Deer to Elk and Moose) Last year shortly after everyone left from the Eclipse visit, a young bull moose loped its way through the property, I'm sure he was still wound up from all the people from the eclipse as he wasn't letting grass grow under him as he hurried through. We would love to see you and your family, Be warned you will be invited to a potluck campfire while you stay. So come see us! At the Moonshadow Ranch you will always be greeted with a warm welcome! (for more info or questions please read last seasons listing for anything I forgot to mention or feel free to shoot me a email) and as always Have A Great Summer! (Please remember, Our river is not a full time dedicated waterway as it is diverted primarily for irrigation purposes and is dry most of the summer season. So please feel free to ask if it may be running for your visit. :) ) Also we have had some work done to the river banks due to the last seasons high water flooding so the campsites next to the river at the moment are a little rough, but we are working on smoothing them up, but there are alot of nice areas still on the property. I can accept visitors anytime you let us know when you want to stay and we will be here awaiting your arrival!

The vibe at The Moonshadow Ranch (MSR)
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Moonshadow Ranch was the perfect spot for our family as we pulled together a last minute holiday weekend trip. Anthony and Lucy were amazing hosts and took great care of us, especially as the rain clouds started coming in and they showed up with a large tarp to keep us dry.
Craters of the Moon was the perfect day trip and we wished we could have stayed longer to have a community potluck and see the other local spots Anthony told us about.
As far as the property, they have several acres and you can see the neighbor’s house down the way, but the river and mountains are beautiful and we got much more privacy than we would have at the busier campgrounds (Plus, we got to have a campfire).
I feel like I have two new friends and I hope I can make it back to Moonshadow Ranch soon.
