Awesome Place
The lava family campground exceeded our expectations! We loved the water holes and the river sauna! Our only problem is that we didn’t book a long enough stay!

Unique, beautiful, natural!
What a cool place!! Lava Family Campground is truly unique. The teepees are large, comfortable and beautiful - a family of 4 could very comfortably camp in one, if not more. The nearby swimming hole/river is complete with many waterfalls and nice cool water (no showers onsite, but the swimming hole worked just fine!). The host is very enthusiastic and social and clearly cares a great deal about his guests and making sure they have a great time. We visited in the dead heat of summer and it is still VERY COLD at night - come prepared! Between the fire inside the teepee and -20 rated sleeping bags we were nice and cozy, but our neighbors bailed out at 4AM due to the cold. This is a unique and beautiful spot, and the sunsets are out of this world. Lots of great hiking and exploring nearby - we particularly enjoyed the Twin Falls area - and the nearby town of Pocatello has tons of amenities (costco, walmart, starbucks, etc).

Little bit of heaven on earth
We loved our time at this place. It was so peaceful and beautiful with perfect camping spots. We came with an rv and decided to sleep outside in our tent since it was so private and beautiful. Someone mentioned the train and I will say we were in the campsite closest to the train tracks and it did not bother us at all! It doesn’t run very often and honestly just adds to the ambiance of the location. Joel was a phenomenal host and we would love to return. If you are on the fence about staying here I promise you won’t regret it!
