If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
My wife Sam and I refer to Charles at our Idaho Angel. We met Charles at the bottom of the road that leads up to his house with a temperamental vintage VW that died on us. After sitting there for about 30min to let it cool down we were able to get it started and follow him to the camp site.
The site is 5 miles down dirt roads that are fairly rugged. Nothing crazy but just wanted to give a heads up. You will not have any cell service. We made if just fine with our half dying 40 year old vehicle.
Once at the site our car problem showed itself to be more than we had realized. We spent most of the evening working on the bus and planning to even potentially get towed out of the site. Charles was SOO incredibly gracious and helpful the entire time. He got us firewood, dug a fire pit, was attentive to all our needs... as there were a lot :(
We stayed the night it was beautiful and private. We made plans the next morning for Charles to help escort us into town in his car as we were concerned about our Bus dying in route. He stuck with us and was helpful the whole way though.
We couldn't have picked a better spot or a better host to be having car problems in the middle of nowhere with. We are so thankful and sad that we couldnt have had a more relaxed and peaceful time at the site. It was gorgeous and would definitely recommend it. You will have a great experience!
This place is amazing! Awesome views, Charles is super friendly and helpful, neat areas to explore all around his setup (we had the place to ourselves)... a great first experience with Hipcamp. Definitely follow his instructions to get there as it’s a little complicated, but his directions are spot on. Wouldn’t recommend if you are allergic to bees, as there are lots of wildflowers to attract them, but they weren’t too much of a hassle and no one got stung. I hate bees and survived to tell you it’s worth it. Might have been the time of year too.
The VIEW was gorgeous! The host was accommodating and friendly and offered us a lot of commenities to help make our stay comfortable. Shower/ Shovel for #2/ Firewood/Fire starter/ trash bag/ portable toilet. The actual site is quite a bit smaller in person and the actual site was terrible. Rocky, dry and 100% infested with bees/wasps/yellow jackets. The ridiculous amount of bees caused us to leave by 11:30 am, 24 hours early, which is nature’s fault (and ours) not the owners. Charles came over a bit early for our taste (about 8am) with his four wheeler and dogs which was really loud. We heard cars pass by multiple times from 9pm to 11 am. We met his dogs- super friendly and sweet! Not a great site for people who are bothered with bugs and extreme temperatures (freezing at night- hot as H in the day). I would recommend a real campsite for those who are less accommodating to the true camping life.
