Iron Horse Forest River Cabin

IF ANYONE IN YOUR PARTY HAS SYMPTOMS OR IS SICK, PLEASE CANCEL YOUR VISIT AND REQUEST A REFUND. THANKS FOR DOING YOUR PART DURING THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC. The River Cabin has a wood stove and an electric space heater. Very private and peaceful! The River Cabin (192 sf) overlooks the unspoiled Moyie River. Enjoy walking in the forest or sitting by the river to enjoy the beauty of North Idaho. The cabin is surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains and is private with no view of neighbors property and is situated in a 15.4 acre Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the cabin. There is No Mobile Phone Service. There is WIFI at The River Cabin. We suggest you activate “Cell over WIFI “ on your mobile phone for safety (911 access). There is a variety of wildlife on and around the property. The log cabin has electricity, a small refrigerator with freezer compartment, electric heat, a hot plate, a Keurig coffeemaker, pans and a toaster oven. It has a set of twin size bunk beds, sofa and a small loft that could be used as an additional small sleeping area. The luxury (just kidding) outhouse is nearby. The cabin does not have water, but a spigot at the host's cabin provides fresh well water; a short haul to the cabin. A Gorilla Polycart (13” tires) is on-site for moving larger water containers. A camp site sized area between the cabin and river overlook has a fire pit, covered shelter, featuring a USFS-style charcoal grill, benches and picnic table. Firewood is provided but bring your own charcoal. Size wise it is ideal for a couple. There is also room for a small tent site near the fire pit area and a larger tent site across from the cabin for additional guests.Fun additions for 2019 are a hammock and disc golf “hole”. OUR NIGHTLY FEE Includes all the firewood you need, various cabin supplies and 10% Hipcamp Service Fee. It does not include the 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Travel and Convention Tax.

Very nice, well-appointed cabin with electricity, fridge, toaster, 2 coffee makers, electric heater, vacuum and more. Everything is essentially in new condition. What is not yet listed by the host Paul is that there is also a covered BBQ area with picnic table and a stone fireplace, extra bench that has recently been constructed. The river runs fast (Memorial weekend) and deep, so I would not recommend this to a family with young children, but my partner and I give this two thumbs up for those who want to glam camp. ;-)
hi just wanted to say how lovely it was at your cabin. everything went well and it is a top notch cabin-- would like to come back soon. Extremely jprivate and calm. cutest little cabin in the woods by the river. my dog loved it and roamed all the time. I would completely recommend this cabin

Hi Tannis, We are happy you enjoyed the “River Cabin” for your recent North Idaho getaway!
My husband and I absolutely loved it! It was so beautiful and very private and quiet. It is the perfect size for a couple or very small family. We will definitely be going back!

We are thrilled you found the getaway you were looking for and enjoyed the River Cabin. As you point out, it is a special place in our special forest. Thanks for becoming a Hipcamper and we hope to host you, your husband and Hipdog 🙂 again soon.
Our stay was far beyond anything we could have hoped for. It is the perfect get away for anyone looking to unplug and just relax by an amazing river view. The cabin is exactly what you need, and is kept up very well. Pair that with a covered cooking and eating area and you have the best place for a relaxing trip.

Craver, We are glad your trip up North was all you expected. Come back and see us this Fall.. The s’mores taste better with a cool nip in the air. Paul
We just got home from our quick trip to the Iron Horse River cabin, and we had a fantastic time. I took my mom and our pups for a little trip over the holiday weekend to relax before the school year started and it was exactly what we hoped and expected. It was very private, quite and just the most beautiful little spot on the Movie River. Your friends that were visiting were just so sweet and we really enjoyed chatting with them. We had a fantastic time, thank you Paul.

Katie, Thank you for your feedback ! The River Cabin is a special place and we are glad we can share it with others. Also thanks for your picture posts, the bird on the fence post is a very creative shot. We hope you can come back again. Glad you brought your pups; we have feedback that HipPups love the cabin and river too. Paul
Paul truly has created a special place. I was lucky enough to be able to snag the cabin not even 24 hours before I arrived. The cabin is perfect-not too much, yet at the same time wonderfully functional. You could easily fit 6 people into the cabin. One of my favorite features were the beautiful, massive windows that not only provided wonderful natural light but truly panoramic views of the forested surrounding area. Paul's cabin and the water spigot is only a short 3 minute walk away, yet when at the cabin, you cannot hear or see his cabin. Do be warned- though it is sort of a glamping experience since it is a cabin, make sure to still bring your own pots and pans. There is plenty of basics available, but it never hurts to be prepared. The area itself is spectacularly beautiful and is literally 1 mile away from Canada, so bring your passport! I had fun driving around the area and discovering so many hidden trails. The fall leaves were beautiful and I can't imagine how it looks in the summer. The river is literally right out your door. I cannot wait to return to the cabin and introduce more people to this special place. I also can't wait to see what Paul adds to the cabin because it seems like he is constantly improving to this awesome 15 acre piece of paradise. Thank you Paul for a relaxing weekend that helped me recoup from midterms!

Zoey we are thrilled you were able to enjoy the River Cabin and surroundings on a truly beautiful October weekend ! Hopefully you can come back soon.
I just spent the weekend at this beautiful little cabin. I went alone but felt safe the entire time tucked away in the woods. The cabin was clean and had a lot of espentiallys which was so helpful. Beautiful views and close to hiking spots. The cabin was tucked away in its own wooded area with privacy. It sat overlooking the river and mountains. Such a beautiful thing to wake up to! I plan to return at some point! The host is incredible and very inviting. If you’re looking for a relaxing and secluded spot, this is it!

Heather, Thanks for visiting our special place in the woods of far North Idaho. I hope you can return and thanks again for sharing your experience.
Wow, wow, wow! This was hands down our best vacation experience ever! To say Paul was extremely kind and helpful is a huge understatement. He went to far as to map our route from Oklahoma and found a grocery store that was open late a couple hours away (Sanders County Harvest Foods is open until 11P). That was a huge lifesaver of a tip! We had the entire property to ourselves as no one was staying in the campsite or the main house. This was awesome as we were looking for a remote place to stay where our protective dogs could run free. You can't see any neighbors from the property! We hiked all around the 15 acre property and had a truly amazing stay. We took Paul's advice and hiked to Copper Falls (gorgeous), and went even furthur up to Spruce Lake at the top of the mountain and had the lake to ourselves! The couple who own the local convenient store called "Good Grief" are super friendly and happy to provide free WiFi, which was a lifesaver when I had to do a little work on the trip. We also took Paul's advice and went to Kootenai Falls and Suspension Bridge in Libby, MT which did not disappoint! Super cool, must see place! The cabin is absolutely perfect! We loved it so much! Being situated on the river is such a treat and the dogs loved playing in the water down by the campsite where they made little stairs with stones to the water. We can't wait to go back! Thank you so much Paul for sharing your little slice of heaven with the rest of us! <3

Thanks for visiting the River Cabin and agreeing it is a special place in the forest, by the river. Also, thank you for posting the great pictures of your experience including your beautiful HipPups . I hope you will stop by again the next time you make the long drive from Oklahoma to the beautiful Inland Northwest. Paul
The Iron Horse Forest River Cabin exceeded my expectations! The cabin was beautifully situated in the forest and very well equipped. I loved the fire pit area and the covered dining and grill area was super functional. I spent many hours hanging out in the hammock, gazing at the river and reading my book. The serenade of bird song and the soft burbling of the river were soothing and peaceful...a great place to unplug and unwind! Nearby Copper Falls was a great nature walk and the Creston area of Canada was a perfect day trip destination. I would highly recommend this cozy log cabin for a solo, friend or family weekend.

Carrie, Thank you for adventuring up to far North Idaho . A key goal of Hipcamp is to provide places for folks to tune into nature and destress... glad you found the hammock with a view. Thanks again for visiting and please come again. Paul

George, I am very happy your first experience at our "River Cabin" at Iron Horse Family Forest was a great holiday weekend Hipcamp experience for you and your friend! As you noted we are still improving both the cabin and nearby camp site. The heavy snow pack put us behind schedule on our projects. I am glad they are far enough along you got some enjoyment from them ....hopefully all complete by mid June. Thanks for beating me by adding them to the site description. Far North Idaho is a special place and I hope you can visit us again in the future! Cheers, Paul
