    The property is located on Maui island in the Kula district on the drier side of Haleakala. In days before western contact the area was heavily forested with native plants and trees and rainfall was abundant. The native Hawaiian grew bananas, taro and sweet potato.  After Western contact businessmen mostly from the United States developed huge tracts of land for ranching and farming which cleared the native forests and destroyed the eco system from the mountain to the sea. Many of the Hawaiian people moved away nearer to the towns and immigrant Chinese laborers from the ranches and plantations moved in. The Chinese brought in the Wattle tree to plant for firewood as these trees grew very fast. These are the majority of the trees that you see today. As part of the Chinese immigration, the founder of modern China, Sun Yat Sen lived here for a time and planned his revolution to overthrow the last Chinese Dynasty. There is a park dedicated to him nearby. We have picnic tables a propane grill, a fire pit and a covered gazebo that is shared with 3 cabins This site is located at the 2800 ft altitude and the temperature at night can range from mid 50 to mid 60 degrees F. If you are planning to go to Haleakala, we are about 45 -60 minutes to the summit. We are also on the south side approach to Hana. There is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch about 10 minutes away in Keokea town called Grandma's Coffee house.

    Wahi Nanea cabin is located on the slopes of Haleakala, @ 2800 ft elevation, in a quiet secluded forested area on a farm. The three cabins are located next to each other (see photo). Each cabin has no electricity , using only solar powered lighting with a private shower in the cabin. The site has views of nearby islands of Lana'i and Kaho'olawe along with the Mauna Kahalawai, which is the other west mountain of Maui island. At night the sky is filled with stars as there is no background lights to dim the view. Nearby activities include zipline, ATV, horseback riding, biking along scenic Kula hwy, hiking and Haleakala National Park. There also is Maui Winery with features wine tasting and tours. The nearby towns of Pukalani, Makawao and Keokea have places to eat. You can also travel to and from Hana via the south side on the Kula Hwy which is a scenic and less crowded route.     The cabins and amenities provided are on an upscale camping experience. Be aware that if you are looking for a luxurious room with TV, wifi,  complete kitchen with refrigerator, and your own personal toilet then please go to Wailea, Kihei, Ka'anapali, Kapalua or Lahaina. Do not book with us and be disappointed.  This is a camping experience and not a resort.

    The site is a camper/van (21 ft max length-Class B) parking area only no tents or trailers. This site is part of a complex of four cabins, two camper van parking spaces along with one tent camp site. It is located in a forest setting on a 2-acre farm on the slopes of Haleakala a dormant volcano on Maui Island. The site is at the 2800 ft elevation and temperatures can get as low as mid 40-degree F at night during the winter. There are three flush toilets on site, one right at your Parking 5 site. We have an outdoor shower attached to Cabin 2, between Cabin 1 and 2 for your use. There is a propane grill, fire pit and gazebo on site. It is about 30-45 minutes to the summit of Haleakala National Park. There are small restaurants 5 -10 minutes' drive in the area.

    Welcome to a quiet and cool spot to pitch your tent at the 2800 ft elevation of Haleakala. This spot is perfect for only one 2-3 person size tent on a level terraced area. If you have small children and all of you can fit in your tent that will be fine. You must provide your own tent. We have set up a rain/sun tarp under which you can set up your tent. This tent site shares the area with 4 cabins. You will be able to use our comfort station which has 2 flush toilets. We also have an outdoor shower attached to Cabin 2, between Cabin 1 and 2 for your use. There is a propane grill and a gazebo on site. The water on site is drinkable. You will only be allowed one vehicle per tent. Camper Van/jeep is allowed in this site, however, The Parking for this site IS NOT LEVEL if you want to stay in your vehicle, don't complain about it.

    This was a great spot! Nice amenities. We grilled some steak and enjoyed the use of the covered picnic tables. We were relieved to have access to showers since we hadn't for 4 days prior. It was rainy and dreary, (but that's not anyone's fault). We could have made use of the lovely fire pit if the weather had been nicer. Directions were clear!

    Beautiful view of the sunset and near to the crater and national park. The town of Kula is close by with a great general store and bistro. The camp site was a good stop off for our last night in Maui after a full day in the national park and not far from the airport - it’s basic but had everything we needed. Mahalo!

    This place was fantastic! Squeaky clean bathroom and hot shower. The parking area is beautiful and the ground was almost completely level despite what the descriptions says. We car camped very comfortably here, it was one of our favorite camping nights. It does get a little chilly during the night so bring extra blankets/clothes. Thank you Alika for hosting this property!

    I loved camping at Alika’s place. It was more what I was expecting. Each camping spot has their own bathroom, everything was so clean. I love it. It is a perfect spot is you’re going to the National Park. It’s very convenient! I’ll come back!

    I loved campervan camping here!! There was a beautiful sunset happening while I was freshening up in the outdoor shower. Very quiet and peaceful! It was just over an hour to the Haleakalā summit, so I was grateful for the extra sleep before heading to the sunrise!

    The location was convenient to HALEAKALA and to Paia where we ate dinner. The shower was a hot and clean. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. The instructions were right on point to find the house and our camp after dark. Thanks for the space.

    We so appreciated having access to a flushing toilet and hot shower! Also enjoyed hanging out with the chickens. We chose this location to be closer to the summit at Haleakala. It worked out great for us.

    Fine for one or 2 nights, quiet area, hot water good but showerhead mounting needs attention, shower area drainage poor. Bathrooms good. Good to Use as a base to explore the area.

    Alika gave us excellent directions to the campsite!! The grounds were very well kept and provided us a safe place to stay! I have no complaints! Just a word of advice to future campers, it can get very cold so make sure you have rated sleeping bags or plenty of layers!!

    Truly wonderful for a romantic weekend getaway. Amenities are somewhat basic but we had everything we needed and more. It was a little cold in January, but we were provided extra blankets that made a big difference. Hosts were kind and made us feel welcome. We would stay here again!

    We had a wonderful stay at Alikas! We had everything we needed including bath towels, beach towels and plenty of bedding. It's a great location to visit Haleakala National Park for sunrise or get to the start of the Road to Hana. I brought my own backpacking stove and left the fuel there but there were also many grill accessories. If you're arriving or leaving in the dark just watch out for deer crossing the road.

    This was a good place to stay the night before summiting Haleakalā as its only about an hour and 15 minutes to the top- however, it’s quite expensive for what you actually get, there are no trash cans or showers, and there were lots of spider webs accumulated in the toilet area that seemed like they had been there for months. Directions were good and the view is pretty but I wouldn’t have stayed more than one night had I known the conditions.

    BEAUTIFUL! Very easy to get to, clean, accommodating, and was so nice to have a hot shower! We were completely alone so that was a surprise, but nice and quiet and peaceful! the MOST spectacular sunset, Definitely in the top 5 I have ever seen!!. Bathrooms were super clean. I would say if the campsite was packed it might be a little difficult to maneuver around. If we were to book again, we would’ve done parking four for the rooftop Jeep or camper van instead of five.

    Very surprised by how beautiful and calm the campsite was! We chose this campsite due to its proximity to Haleakala Park for the sunrise, and it was honestly one of our favorite spots on the island.
