This little screened-in open-air Hale (cabin) is nestled in a native Ohia rainforest on the east side of Big Island, and located between Hilo and Pahoa. Completely off-the-grid, uses solar power (generator backup) and has rain catchment and potable water. Private outdoor bathroom and shower. Secure and covered parking available.
There is no kitchen and no access to refrigeration. You can prepare small, simple meals with the one-burner camp stove, some dishes, cookware, cups, and miscellaneous silverware. Jungle critters will come for all food items, so I provide a small food-storage cooler (if your items are perishable, bring ice). There's also a compost bin for all food scraps and trash and recycle bins.
My place is very peaceful. You can use the Hale to hang out all day or as a base camp where you can securely leave your belongings while you go explore. I am in a rural neighborhood with great neighbors. I am truly fortunate! I love sharing my space with travelers and adventurers, regardless of the level of host-interaction preferred by my guests.
