What could be better than waking up and looking it out of your tent to see a picturesque waterfall and going for a quick dip? Not much. What makes it even better is that it didn't cost an arm and a leg to experience it. While it wasn't a problem for us, the camping area currently doesn't have a ton of room for super large tents... currently, (I'm talking about those big multi room ones) we were fine with a three man with some room to spare. There was mention of a small nature stroll potential, but I didn't get a chance to explore it. Axel is friendly and easy going and you can see work is already started on improving the site immensely and with better amenities to boot. It's a shame that I don't know when I'll be back to the big island because I would love to stay here again, especially after hearing what he has in store for this location.

This definitely was a retreat! It is a little slice of paradise with your own waterfall and swimming hole. Could not get any better than that! As of now the bathroom is only a port-a-potty, but Axel has plans to turn the barn into bathrooms/kitchen/ hang out spot for campers which will be awesome! There are many spots to pitch your tent, and all of them are lovely.

Complete paradise. One of the spaces for tents.Little friends :)Walkway down to the waterfall.

Had a really nice experience camping at the farm for a few nights. Axel is a welcoming host and the workers are awesome. We felt really comfortable and safe and ended up coming back for the latter half of the trip. it's nice to have access to the kitchen/bathroom/shared space at the barn. The location by the waterfall is beautiful - it's close to the city but out of it enough that you get a lot of quiet and dark starry skies.

What a gem of a property!!! We booked this site for the waterfall and it did not disappoint. Absolutely gorgeous and a short walk to get to the water fall and swimming area (we brought our 8 year old son and the short walk was so much better than hiking in and out like other places on the island).

The area to pitch your tent is small and at max can only fit a 4 person tent- it also does not overlook the waterfall (I think some of the photos hipcampers uploaded are a little deceiving- this has nothing to do with the host) Axel has a big cabin that overlooks the fall and I suggest messaging him for info on that. Next time we will definitely be booking the cabin!

For some reason the address didn’t populate when I clicked the map in the hipcamp app (it just sent us to the general area but we didn’t know which driveway to turn down) I called axel and he was super nice and able to direct us to the property- i think it was an issue with my phone because no one else has ever had a problem with this.

We arrived with 7 people and with the campsite being small he offered us a small cabin for no extra charge. 5 of us stayed in the tiny cabin and 2 camped on the campsite. He has 3 tiny cabins that house woofers for his farm but we were lucky that one was empty. Honestly these little cabins are some of the better woofer conditions I’ve seen on this island and you could tell he really takes care of them.

There were 4 woofers working the farm when we were there and they were SO nice! At first I wasn’t in the mood to be around people I don’t know but that quickly changed as they were some of the sweetest people and offered to bring us along for the baby cow feeding the next day!
Axel is a really great host. He’s super nice and his house is on the property so he’s close by in case you need anything but doesn’t hover and isn’t intrusive (which we appreciated).

We can’t wait to go back and enjoy another weekend here! If you’re thinking about booking I highly suggest you do!

Oh also it rains up there daily so make sure you’re prepared for rain.

The waterfall is why we booked this spot and it did not disappoint. My 8 year old son LOVED the waterfall we swam for hours and had the best time.

We had a sweet stay on the farm! Loved the property and animals. The woofers were really outgoing and accommodating! We shared the kitchen and bathrooms with them. Fresh milk is a plus :) the kids had an opportunity to feed a baby goat wi th a bottle, feed the goats, cows and milk a cow as well as learn how to strain the milk. The waterfall was beautiful and very cold and fresh! We enjoyed it all! It’s not for everyone but perfect for our family ... we had 4 kids with us 12-2 and all of them had a blast. The location is great too! Close to hilo and beaches. Thank you axel for being a great host and opening your farm to us! We felt very comfortable roaming the property.
