Imagine waking up in a pastoral, park-like setting with a view of the ocean and the Big Island of Hawaii across the Alenuihaha Channel.  It’s like waking up in a paradise and that’s what Caroline’s Private Campsites are like in Hana-Maui! Located on a section of a 17 acre farm three miles from the center of Hana town, this exclusive campsite is a short 20-minute walk (less than 10 minutes by car) away from Hamoa Beach and approximately seven miles away from the entrance to Haleakala National Park at O’heo.

Drive down a private road bordered by coconut trees, ulu (breadfruit) and hala, a plant native Hawaiians used to weave mats with, and you’ll be shown to one of three campsites, each with its own fire pit, picnic table and easy access to an outdoor shower and port-a-toilet.  Tucked away on its’ own section of a working farm, your neighbors may be a herd of cattle or horses.

Families traveling with children are welcome and there is no additional charge for them but they must be listed on your reservation. As there are inherent dangers on farms, we ask parents to supervise their children, respect the privacy of other campers, and observe our quiet time from 8 pm to 7 am.

Location one is ideal for two people. It is on the edge of the campground and a coconut grove.  Location two is great for families or campers requiring more space.  Location three is spacious for two tents accommodating four people but it is in a grassy location with no shade trees.  All of the campsites have spectacular ocean views!

Coconuts, bananas, papayas, breadfruit and citrus are grown on our farm and we also have a small herd of cattle. Additionally, Tony’s Place, a food truck with outdoor seating areas with social distancing, is next to the Hana Road. It features fresh Hana fish and beef, salads, sandwiches, and local favorites plus great desserts and is open from 10 am to 4 pm.  We sell our coconut oil products at our small retail outlet next to the food truck, fresh fish filets you can grill yourself, and firewood.

The road to the campsites is private and we will guide you to your campsite when you check in NO LATER THAN 5 p.m.  We will not be able to escort late arrivals to the campsites after dark. To protect the privacy and for the safety of our campers, all campers must have advance reservations.

I can’t say enough about this place. The view, the setting, the hospitality were all amazing. The short walk to Homoa beach is a must. Thank you Caroline and Tony!

I am very happy with the decision to spend 2 nights at Carolin’s. It’s very private, only 2 other parties were there during our first day. Their tents were far enough way to not hear anything.

Porta potty was clean (for what it is of course), and beach is 1 min drive away to watch the sunrise.

The host, Tony was super nice. The location is in the coconut orchard, luscious green grass for campsites and beautiful 160° view to to the ocean! Even harder chairs and table assigned to each site. The downside is the amenities!
For the money we expected at least access to a shower that gives you more privacy and water!
We couldn't take a shower due to the broken handle and the water hose had no water in it.
They should work on that for sure and put and extra port'a potty because one is just not enough!

What a cool place to stay! Definitely plan to have one of your meals at Tony’s Food Truck that is 1 minute walk from the campsite. Delicious plate lunch and ice cream! Beautiful views, tons of coconuts and horses, and good people. We ll be back for sure.

What an amazing spot! Had a great time! Close to everything in Hana and you don’t even need to bring food. You can eat at Tony’s food truck or Caroline’s when she opens back up.

We loved camping out at Caroline's! Located on a grassy knoll above Hamoa Beach, what can be better? Plenty of food options in Hana, including the delicious Tony's Truck located right on the property. We bought a duralog at the Hana General Store to burn in the fire pit provided. Very clean toilet, shower, and trash cans provided. A great nights rest before adventuring the back side of Haleakalā park. We traveled to Maui during Covid and were able to social distance very well - respect the locals, support local business, and wear a mask! Thank you caroline and family.

Hamoa Beach just down the road. Set up our tent under the stars.
