Imagine waking up in a pastoral, park-like setting with a view of the ocean and the Big Island of Hawaii across the Alenuihaha Channel.  It’s like waking up in a paradise and that’s what Caroline’s Private Campsites are like in Hana-Maui! Located on a section of a 17 acre farm three miles from the center of Hana town, this exclusive campsite is a short 20-minute walk (less than 10 minutes by car) away from Hamoa Beach and approximately seven miles away from the entrance to Haleakala National Park at O’heo.

Drive down a private road bordered by coconut trees, ulu (breadfruit) and hala, a plant native Hawaiians used to weave mats with, and you’ll be shown to one of three campsites, each with its own fire pit, picnic table and easy access to an outdoor shower and port-a-toilet.  Tucked away on its’ own section of a working farm, your neighbors may be a herd of cattle or horses.

Families traveling with children are welcome and there is no additional charge for them but they must be listed on your reservation. As there are inherent dangers on farms, we ask parents to supervise their children, respect the privacy of other campers, and observe our quiet time from 8 pm to 7 am.

Location one is ideal for two people. It is on the edge of the campground and a coconut grove.  Location two is great for families or campers requiring more space.  Location three is spacious for two tents accommodating four people but it is in a grassy location with no shade trees.  All of the campsites have spectacular ocean views!

Coconuts, bananas, papayas, breadfruit and citrus are grown on our farm and we also have a small herd of cattle. Additionally, Tony’s Place, a food truck with outdoor seating areas with social distancing, is next to the Hana Road. It features fresh Hana fish and beef, salads, sandwiches, and local favorites plus great desserts and is open from 10 am to 4 pm.  We sell our coconut oil products at our small retail outlet next to the food truck, fresh fish filets you can grill yourself, and firewood.

The road to the campsites is private and we will guide you to your campsite when you check in NO LATER THAN 5 p.m.  We will not be able to escort late arrivals to the campsites after dark. To protect the privacy and for the safety of our campers, all campers must have advance reservations.

Caroline site was good. Tony was good host, made sure we were comfortable. He was good communicator. Informed about bad weather before few days of our trip start and offered full refund if we decided to cancel.

About the site, it has nice view of ocean and there are three sites, coconut trees, banana trees and pasture. Kids had fun watching horses on the pasture and playing in open farm. Open shower was good. Had firepit and barbecue we did not use it but other guest did use it. Site was close to main Hana attractions like seven pools (about 30 mins), waianapanapa state park (about 15 mins). General store and gas station about (10 mins).

Tony was a wonderful host. The site was beautiful and we were very happy with our experience. It had everything we needed and more to enjoy a night of camping. Gorgeous ocean views, super clean bathroom and everything was very well maintained. Such a great location. Looking forward to going back.

Amazing beautiful site! Had a great time.

Only feed is that the toilets are a porta-potty that aren't serviced very often.
