Confortable place, good privacy, nice people, really good macadamia nuts, refreshing pool. We stayed 6 nights and we would go again anytime! We highly recommend it.

Alex and Kelly shared house with us even though we were tenting. My 12 year old liked watching a couple movies in the theater, played piano, had fun with the 2 dogs, talked to macaws, helped collect macadamia nuts, ate fresh avocado from the orchard- on bread from the local bakery, explored the property, and read her book in the comfortable nook. The camp area was soft, well drained grass, with as much privacy as you want. Plenty to do in area- lava tubes, snorkel at South Point via ladder, snorkel at Whittington Beach inside reef(incoming tide), find and open coconuts from grove there too, Black Beach, fresh bread/pastries at bakery in Naalehu.

Warning: This campsite is addictive! We came for one night and stayed for ..., actually we’re still here. Kelly is delightful and the property is amazing. My kids had a great time picking fruit and nuts and playing in the pool, we could stay here forever!

Picking ripe bananas right off the tree.

The campsite itself was ok in a macadamia nut Grove but that was the only thing that was ok. No restrooms, picnic tables, BBQs or anything else. We drove all the way back to the office to find out where restrooms and showers were. After 20 minutes of searching & calling out the host finally came out. When I asked about restrooms and showers she treated me like I was bothering her. She said there was a shower on the side of the office. What we found was a hole in the lava with slippery uneven steps down into it. No walls, no handrails nowhere to hang a towel nowhere for soap or shampoo. My husband who uses a cane to walk could not get down into that shower hole. I barely could. Very unsafe. I looked around again for the restrooms but all I found was a toilet in a screened in room open to everyone walking by on the deck of the office. Zero privacy. After driving back to campsite, as it was way too far to walk, we were swarmed by mosquitos. Then it started raining. When we laid down to sleep, we were treated to crowing all night from the rooster farms next door. Also the host's big St. Bernard dog barked all night. After no sleep all night we got up the next morning and packed up to leave. Couldn't find a trashcan anywhere to dispose of our trash. Then I tried to find the host to tell her we were checking out and wanted a refund for second night. After a half hour of searching the property I never did find her. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Aloha Leslie. My apologies this wasn’t a good fit for you. We are not ADA equipped and that was my oversight on the listing. I have corrected that and again, I apologize for any inconvenience. I refunded your night immediately. I hope you find the experience you seek somewhere soon, good luck and happy holidays.

Kelly‘s place offers anything a camper asks for. She’s got a big garden, which you can drive into with your car and choose a place yourself. There is an outdoor shower and a toilet for campers. The kitchen of the house is accessible for campers, where you’ll find anything you need. The big porch and a ping pong table are also there to use. Kelly offers a very interesting lava show in her home cinema, a mix of home videos, pictures and yt videos, which give you information and background on the situation of and around the eruption of 2018. very interesting, we recommend!
