Hammock Haven was inspired by shelters when I hiked the AT. It can accommodate 2 hammocks or a 3 person backpacking tent on the shelter pad area (11.5' x 8'). The ground can get soft when it rains hard so please remain on the platform. A patio table and 2 chairs are available and can be moved wherever you would like, or bring your own chair to sit by the fire and enjoy being surrounded by tall Georgia trees on 3 sides and a view of the pond that feeds Panther Creek. You may see a variety of wildlife, birds, and animals. You may hear the frogs, see lightning bugs, and hear our hens! Stars are bright on a clear night! The sounds of the creek flowing are magical and can lull you to sleep!
This shelter was built to share the experience of cooking outside, having a campfire to roast marshmallows and staring at stars in the Chattahoochee National Forest in the foothills of the Appalachians. Panther Creek (walkable) and Tallulah Falls (3.5 miles) are among the popular hiking destinations. The Chattooga River and Trail nearby are also popular amongst kayakers and backpackers. Bring your favorite camping gear and enjoy an outdoor experience!

Platform camping with a roof!
I love hiking and I love camping and it's fantastic when I can find a great site close to nature. This is the perfect spot to drop a tent or a hammock and not have to worry about putting up a tarp! Angie has thought of everything. There's a dedicated parking space, shower house, platform under a roof for sleeping accommodations, and even a fire ring! I loved being able to be under cover, yet still hear the sounds of nature and see the stars. Panther creek (hiking) was just a hop skip and a jump away, so that made it easy to stop here on my way there.
As far as hosts go, she's gone above and beyond in thinking of things to make it comfortable and beyond. It's often the little things that make it memorable! I'll be back!
Awesome place with an awesome host!
Wonderful stay and really relaxing especially if you've been on a trail for a few days and just need to reorganize and dry out gear. My dog really needed the rest after a very wet week hiking for 4 days and we both couldn't have appreciated it more. It was very calm and peaceful with plenty of space to hang out and prepare for our next hike!
Shaded and with great amenities
Beautiful, shaded campsite that’s super close to Panther Creek trail head. We loved having the shelter for our tent and the property owners really make sure you have all you need to have a great stay. Having a full, air-conditioned bathroom on site when you are camping is such a luxury! We really enjoyed it here and would stay again!
Awesome place , very clean and well maintained and getting your own private bathroom equipped with towels & TP was a huge plus . Absolutely perfect location if you're hiking panther creek trail or any of the other trails in the area.
Would definitely stay here again.
Far exceeded expectations
Angie is a great host! For someone booking an AT style shelter, I did not expect all the thoughtful touches that made this stay much more comfortable than expected. Angie is very responsive and you can tell she cares about her guests. We use Hipcamp as often as we can to book unique camping experiences and this one was definitely a memorable stay.
Amazing 1 night getaway!
Lovely setting. Even wet, wonderful cozy covering for my tent and things. Fresh water, firewood and surprisingly wonderful private bathroom/shower. Very clean. Thank you Angie!
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Angie’s site. It was a clean, beautiful set up and was much more than we anticipated! Angie was a wonderful host - very responsive and accommodating to our needs. We’re sad we could not stay longer due to our travel plans but we will certainly be back here! Highly recommend!
