Mrs.Kay and Mr.Harvin were exceptional hosts. They made sure we had what we needed, and gave us true southern hospitality. The bistro they have on site serves delicious food seasoned by Mrs.Kay herself. Service is spot on.
The grounds are spacious with sprawling oaks all around. They have done a good job of clearing good height for campers and lighting the place with charming lights round the trunks of various trees.
The grounds are clean and there are home made traps for pesky bugs in the form of upside down plastic black planters and white buckets. We asked what they were and some bugs are attracted to white while others are attracted to black! There are horses on either end of the grounds as well with optional horseback riding available by Ashley, the owners daughter.
The bathrooms have AC, which is nice because who like to feel sticky just getting out of the shower from the heat? (...and they get COLD). They are clean and have hot water and are spacious so you don’t feel cramped.
Although we had a camper, we asked to see one of the cabins and were impressed with the functionality-all the things you need with a well organized space. We may stay in one our next trip.
This is a place to come and relax, enjoy the peace of being disconnected as there is no wi-fi. We had no issues and felt safe in the grounds even walking in the middle of the night.
We’ll be returning and exploring locally next time as we had picked it as a place to visit both St Augustine or Savannah, as it’s midway between the two. Glad we stayed. Hope to make it back soon!

I had a fabulous time here for so many reasons. The owners are so welcoming and helpful, real Southern Hospitality! The property is beautiful, sitting in a forest of Oak trees. One Friday and Saturday nights there is a bistro on property that had great food. I was told I could pitch my tent anywhere and then a picnic table, firewood and Firering were brought for me. The bathrooms are very clean and are even with a/c. It’s a perfect place to just relax and enjoy the beautiful nature or spend a day exploring the Okefenokee Swamp. For train buffs in the nearby town of Folkston there is a viewing platform where up to 70 trains a day roll by. Out of all the Hip Camping I have done this is my favorite place.

My husband, his friend and I had a wonderful stay at Newell Lodge. Kaye was there to greet us as we arrived and was the kindest host! The bathrooms were SO clean and the land was gorgeous. When I woke each morning I walked 400ft to say good morning to the horses. Will definitely be back!!!

Kay and her husband were very friendly and accommodating. we were offered complementary piece of peach pie for dessert and our firewood Ethan came with some fat lighter! The only negative was lots of mosquitoes, but that’s Georgia in the summertime

Let me start by saying that Newell Lodge is definitely stuffed into the backwoods of Georgia. It can be hard to find, but it's definitely worth the effort! We communicated with Kay, but her husband met us when we got there. The campsites are pretty wide open and don't offer a lot of privacy, but the super clean and comfortable bathrooms definitely make up for that. The property is absolutely gorgeous, and Kay and her husband made us feel super welcome and safe. Bug spray is a must if you're going any time when it's warm, they're insane and will eat you alive. Lots of space for hanging up hammocks underneath all the live oaks and Spanish moss. There's no fire pits, but they did offer us a burn barrel to use if we wanted. There were also electrical outlets and water hookups all around the property, so it shouldn't be hard to find a spot to camp near one or both of those. Overall a great stay and totally recommended!

If you do decide to book with Kay, make sure you screenshot the directions like she says and sort out your GPS first (Google Maps worked fine, whereas Apple Maps didn't even list the street). You'll probably lose service or have really spotty service during the last 10 minutes of the drive.

Kay and family were very friendly and accommodating. I was arriving late because of a traffic issue and they happily waited to welcome me when I got in after dark. I felt very safe and comfortable at the site, and loved being in the beautiful trees. Site is very secluded. Next time I would just remember to bring bug spray, lots of mosquitoes, but I also stayed in late September and this was to be expected and no fault of the hosts.

Wanted to take my family on a quick and fulfilling first camping trip and had a blast here! Ms. Kay and everyone on the property was so inviting and caring. The absolute definition of southern hospitality! Well maintained property, tons of water and power around the property, and great out houses. Also, an absolutely beautiful piece of property. Nothing but relaxation in the outdoors! Definitely recommend.

Beautiful remote location, welcoming, friendly host that went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. We had a couple of minor issues such as hot water heater issue but they were quickly resolved.
