David, the host at Withlachoochee Riverside, met us upon arrival and gave us a quick overview of his land. He was super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to have us as guests. After a brief overview he let us be and we set out to explore!

There are several sweet places to pitch a tent at this site. You can go back into the woods if you want a little bit of extra privacy or you can stay in the tent that he has pitched in the trees. Both offer a good bit of shade which in Florida can be a huge asset to any campsite. This site provides running water for your dishes and drinking, an outdoor shower (there’s no curtain so bring your bathing suit if you want to rinse off) and an overhang if you need to get out of the rain or sun. There’s even a dart board and a pool table if you want to have a little fun after a day on the water.

One of our favorite things about this site are the three docks. There are a couple chairs on one of them and all of them look like great places to spend an afternoon reading, fishing, drinking a couple of cold beers - heck, even all three at once.

David plans on getting a bathhouse up and running soon, so stay tuned for that!

One of David's tree tents. One of the docks overlooking the river.Bamboo in Florida?! Cool!Have you ever stayed in a tent in the trees?!
