Set among 30 acres, Griffin Ranch has so many different spots to experience. From cabins to tent campsites - you can carve out pretty much any experience you are looking for. Carl, your host, is busy creating more and more fun to have on his property out in the country (including setting up a handful of vintage Airstream), only 30 minutes from Ocala. It’s close to Salt Springs Recreation Area (only 15 miles up the same road) where you can snorkel for free among fish, crabs, and a natural spring of turquoise water that hovers at 72 degrees year round.
Griffin Ranch has one and two bedroom cottages to rent and pretty much anywhere that’s level you want to pitch your tent or camper van (no hookups). The property has several ponds for your to put in your kayak or cast your fishing rod. We stayed in a tiny one bedroom cabin that had a clawfoot tub to soak it! Also in our cabin, was a small fridge, coffee pot, microwave and desk to work at. If you prefer a stand up shower, there is a bathhouse set up in the middle of the cabins that has a double shower, wooden floors, shampoo and conditioner, and hot water with great pressure. This is what we used after going for a run on the country road that leads out of the back of the property. Several of the cabins are close to a busy road, so you may want to bring a pair of earplugs if you need quiet to sleep.
Depending on the crowd or occasion, Griffin Ranch also has a Cafe that can serve homestyle meals for you. The night we were there, we enjoyed a dinner with grilled steak, potatoes, salad, bread pudding with ice cream, beer, and Irish whiskey for St. Patrick’s Day. We shared space in the cafe with a family from France, locals of Florida, and us!
If animals are your jam, there are 7 horses on the property that will set you at ease just by walking over to there corral. There were also several guests on the property with dogs, which made our day!
We highly recommend staying at this property. There is so much to see, as there are so many projects going on with the effort to create a better and more varied experience for guests.

Our cabin for the night. The sweet cabin we stayed in for the night.Taking a breather. This campsite is on the other side of the pond.
