Amazing place to disconnect!
I booked campsite #2 (Two Oaks) for a weekend stay for my girlfriend and another couple with our four pups. We live about an hour away in Wellington and the drive in was a breeze.
From arrival to departure, Donna and Craig were amazing hosts and so excited to share their place with us and our dogs! We were greeted with adorable goody bags since it was Halloween. We were also gifted a bundle of firewood, so thoughtful. The ranch is charming and almost everything you see was handmade by Craig. We were so excited to get to there, we forgot our air mattress and charcoal 🤦🏽♀️ Donna didn’t think twice to let us use theirs! They are seriously the sweetest people who just want you to enjoy your time and be comfortable.
There is plenty of land to explore as well as back trails to hike or ride ATVs. The property itself has plenty of shaded areas to escape the heat and amazing views of the moon. We enjoyed cooking and eating out meal outside and even had a full sized picnic table! Fires at night only amazing but highly recommend as it gets vert dark and mosquitoes are not shy!
We are so excited to come back and see how this place grows! Close enough to the city but quiet enough to disconnect from the chaos. This is our new favorite spot!
We had a really fantastic time at “R” Camp. The hosts weren't at the site when we arrived, which was perfectly fine--everything was easy to find so we made ourselves right at home! One thing to note is directions by GPS are not accurate, so watch for Donna's written instructions which were texted to us. As soon as the hosts arrived, Donna came over to welcome us, tour the property, and make sure we found everything easily. The campsite sits on 5 acres which allows plenty of space for campers to explore. There’s plenty of wildlife in the area; we saw a large otter run by the pond and there were some stunning owls we glimpsed as well.
There are six campsites spread throughout the property with signs marking the designated spots. Two of the sites have an established fire ring and one had a picnic table. The host hopes to add more additions to each site as more people start camping on the property.
There are two bathrooms on the property for campers, one being a traditional outhouse and the other being a unique stilted rustic toilet.
Donna and Craig were excellent hosts and super accommodating. They’ve done a wonderful job preserving the land while maintaining a primitive campsite experience. Everything on the property was built by Craig and he has some awesome carpentry skills and has created some unique structures.
We truly enjoyed our stay out on their ranch and we definitely recommend visiting for a relaxing getaway!
