Really enjoyable experience!
My girlfriend and I were camping on New Year's Eve and hoped we'd find an available campsite in the area on a first come, first serve basis. We learned quickly that wouldn't be the case and essentially were going to sleep in a field somewhere. We came across the Common Ground Farm Camp, read the write up and reviews, and since it was an instant book, we hoped for the best. This ended up being more than a 'place to sleep', it was an experience. Not only did we book this site at 8:30PM on NYE, but the hosts, John and Pat were hospitable and accommodating immediately. We needed to build a fire to cook our food and stay warm, but weren't able to due to their many greenhouses on site. Instead, they let us stay in a make-shift camp site on the other side of the property so that we could build a fire as to not harm any of the plants or greenhouses. He showed us where everything was (including fully functioning outdoor shower and bathroom, outdoor patio with grill and fridge) and made sure we had what we needed before bed. While they were fireworks and some noises from cars in the distance, it still felt like a genuine camping experience. In the morning, him and his sweet Aussies greeted us and gave us the tour of the farm. If you like plants and vegetables, and want to get your hands dirty, this is the place for you! He let us help pick some parsley and even pull up some carrots for harvesting and selling in their weekend market. Not only is the property beautiful, but John and Pat are so knowledgable and passionate about their farm and what they do. It was a pleasure stumbling upon this place and we definitely recommend checking it out if you want a safe, secluded place to stay that also provides a fun way to learn about the entire farm-to-table process. We will definitely come back to stay here!
