Host Jim Midwest Permaculture says:
Bending Oak is a 25-acre site on the edge of Youngstown. It was recently logged (clear cut) by the former owner so we are in the process on turning it into a ecological-permaculture garden. We've added orchards, ponds and a centrally located barn that is powered by solar panels and harvests the fresh water we need from rainfall.
Our HipCamp friends are welcome to come and just get away from it all or if you are interested, our site manager and permaculture teacher, Jim Penrod, will be happy to give you a quick tour and answer questions you might have about the site, different projects we have underway or about permaculture in general.
Campfires by the barn in the evening can easily happen and Jim plays a mean banjo.
Besides the composting toilet we are in the midst of building a rocket stove hot water heater for a simple camp shower. Maybe you can help finish it. :)
The site is becoming beautiful and with the return of native plants and wildlife it will be the home of many of our future Permaculture Design Certificate Courses.
