Situated in the Chequamegon National Forest and within one mile access to the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, this property offers a launching point for your Northwoods adventures. Kayaks available. Our farm currently features a Gothic style tiny house to keep you warm and dry for whatever adventures await.Find yourself immersed in the heart of our diversified, regenerative produce farm in Northern Wisconsin. Stay dry and warm in the cool season or avoid the mosquitoes in the warm season inside our gothic arch-style tiny house. Our farm is situated within the Chequamegon National Forest where lake and trail recreation abounds. Access to the Ice Age Trail is within one mile. Two kayaks are available as an add-on extra with your rental.
The tiny house is off-grid and features solar powered lighting/fans with propane gas oven and range. Guests are required to build and maintain a fire in the small wood stove during cold weather. Campfire wood is available year-round free-of-charge. Toilet facilities include an outhouse with a composting toilet which we clean after each guest stay. There is an attached shower stall and we will provide solar heated water as requested during the summer months only. The house features a double bed futon and a twin sized loft with 4” antimicrobial mattress pad. For comfort, we feel the house is best suited to two adults to stay inside but small kids could possibly fit two in either bed. There is a large grassy space directly around the house for tents to be added to your group (up to 8 people) as needed.
Plan on hearing our working farm early each morning May thru Oct. This may include but is not limited to roosters crowing, hens squawking, hogs disagreeing, tractors running, a sawmill running, a person shouting to another member of the team. Your accommodations are relatively close to our small herd of pastured hogs. Rest assured, the smell is minimal thanks to our regenerative rotation practices. Generally we do not work on Sundays (no staff) but exceptions are made to this rule.
There is an opportunity for you to harvest your own vegetables or lend a hand on our farm. We love to share what we do with new friends. Please make these plans in advance or at least be aware of our busy days when we are not available. Hands-off purchases can be preplanned using our online store a few days ahead of your stay.
Exceptions will be made if dog owner understands that we have livestock and must keep them safe. Our chickens free-range in the yard of the tiny house. We also have a farm dog that is very lively and wants to be friends with any other dog she encounters. If you have a dog that is chicken and dog friendly, you can request a dog exception allowance.
