Tara was great and made sure we had everything we needed from a commode to pre chopped firewood! This location is extremely private and serene. Although it’s close to a highway, you’re instantly greeted with peace and quiet. Our lovely host provided a paddleboat and kayaks to explore and gave us an amazing and welcoming tour. We are for sure coming back soon
Tara’s campsite was PERFECT. It was very private, nice and cool in the shade, and it has a dock on a beautiful lake. The paddleboat was such a nice touch! I would love to visit again.

Tara was an awesome host. The sight was beautiful and private. There was fire wood and a paddleboat to use. 4 days of solitude...just what i was hoping for. I would highly reccommend this site. Thanks, Tara.
Tara’s site was amazing, even better than we expected. Camp was stunning, beautiful views of the water, kayaks for use, and just such a unique and special spot. Tara was so communicative and available as needed, and even checked on us when a storm blew in. This place is on our favorites list and we will certainly be back.
P.s. of course there’s mosquitos, as one would expect in the woods. But we came prepared with thermacel pads and bug spray and frankly, were barely bothered.
Can’t recommend Camp Escape: The Woods enough! Tara was an amazing host and very accommodating and responsive, and the campsite was perfect. Great for dogs, too. We had lots of fun exploring the woods, taking out the kayaks/paddle boats, picking raspberries, and sitting around the fire stargazing. We will most definitely be back!
Tara was lovely and we had fun meeting her dogs and getting a tour of their property on her ATV. We are no strangers to rustic camping having backpacked in MN and MT but this site was definitely bare bones.
The main reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this site is the toilet situation and the uneven ground. The only semi-flat space appropriate for a tent was right next to the fire ring, otherwise the ground was very hilly. Sleeping in a hammock at this site would be easier.
The toilet seat is not in a set place. It is meant to be moved and a hole dug, which makes you wonder where others have placed it before you. Also, it was not cleaned prior to our use so I wiped it down with bleach and paper towels (while wearing gloves)...all of which I had b/c COVID. Would recommend they create a permanent pit toilet.
Absolutely loved this location! Very secluded and quiet but right off the highway. Tara was lovely and provided a paddleboat, kayaks, firewood and a commode. We loved every single moment and would highly recommend to anyone!
Tara & her husband & son were very nice. They met us when we arrived and showed us to the camp site, and then around the property, which is huge. We were in a clearing on top of a hill. It was a short walk to the nearest lake, and a great spot for star gazing. There are 4 lakes on this property, as well as older forests with high canopies and lively dappled sun. Coming from a suburb of chicago, we really appreciated the quiet - you cannot hear any road noise at all here - and we loved the rolling hills throughout. There were a few other campers when we were there, but we never ran into any of them. Tara provided fire wood and a trash bin, too, which was a nice bonus. Definitely would recommend.

Hi Nancy! Thanks for the feedback. We are a new startup so any comments on how we can improve is really appreciated. We do our best and clean the toilets and boats regularly to keep the camp a vacation destination away from Covid. A difficult task to be sure. Thank you for doing your part, bringing cleaner with you as you travel is a great idea! Next time, we'll leave some at the sites for your peace of mind, as well as continue cleaning after each camper. Thank you for your feedback! Tara
