**Brand new leveled site, lake view, drive-in**Returning Campers: Ask about our specials just for returnees!

Deep in the backwoods of rural Wisconsin, Camp Escape is an excellent spot to disconnect with the 21st century and get completely off grid. At this camp, a handful of secluded sites each come with spectacular lakeside views and shelter from pine trees for complete isolation.

Here’s a chance to test your wilderness skills. There’s 70 acres of private forest and four kettle lakes at your disposal, so getting to know your surroundings must be top of the list. You can potter around on the water in rowing boats and canoes (both free for campers to use) and fish for bass to grill over your campfire. Kids can safely run off energy, make new friends at the play areas, or go scavenging for raspberries in season.

Beyond camp, there’s a whole wilderness of 5,000 acres just begging to be explored; take a backpack and hike or horseback ride into the forest, or rent an ATV or snowmobile for winter adventures in the hills. At the end of the day, though, there’s probably nothing better than sitting on a wooden dock overlooking a lake and contemplating the wilderness as the sun sets.

No-fuss amenities at this back-to-nature campground include fire rings, wooden tables, and parking by each site. Gas cylinders are available, but there’s no drinking water so you'll need to bring your own. There’s one compostable toilet on the park as well as plenty of dirt (and trees to hide behind) for catholes.

Camp in a dense Pine forest, hidden away on a lake. Your on the end of the road down a hill that makes the quite lay a little thicker. Enjoy natures music, boating, and a firepit while surrounded by woods.

My family and I had a great time camping for a night at The Hideaway over Memorial Day weekend. The pre-arrival experience was top tier—Tara shared with us all the information we needed to know and more! Maps, detailed check in info and tons of details about our site. I loved that! She was very quick at replying when I had further questions.

When we arrived, Tara greeted us and guided us directly to our site through the roads which were a bit more like ATV trails. If you have 4WD and drive slowly you will be just fine. It didn’t take long at all to get there. My dogs were being super obnoxious and she was so polite about it.

We could tell when we pulled in and from the website that the Hideaway was a new addition and therefore we did have some cleaning up to do when we got there in order to set up our tents. That didn’t bother me because she did include that on the website description. After tossing some rocks and sticks away and laying down some pine needles we were able to find a flat area right when you pull in to set up two tents. You likely would not be able to fit more because the rest of the campsite was fairly steep. This campsite would be excellent for hammocks.

The Hideaway is on a lake, with a fairly gradual 50 foot hill down to the water. The campsite is located above the water, so you have privacy from the other two campsites on that lake. We had no problem portaging our kayaks down.

The campsite did not have any amenities, besides firepit and a wobbly table but I am a backpacker and I am used to primitive campsites. Once we got down to the lake, we were able to see two campsites: The Peninsula and The Island. They were extremely well equipped, with chairs, extra tables, rakes and boating vessels. That was when I realized that the primitive-ness of this campsite was only because it is new.

As we were driving away, we all agreed that we immediately wanted to plan another trip here! The peace and quiet, the beautiful Forest the gorgeous kettle lake lush with ducks. This place is truly an escape!

Thank you for everything, Tara!

This was our second time camping at one of Tara’s sites. It’s shaping up to be a tradition! The hideaway was a great site- very private, large, and close to the water. Tara gave us an ATV ride when we arrived- it was fun but also very helpful to get a lay of the land. We left on Sunday with some fresh butt nuggets from Tara’s chickens. YUM! We will definitely be returning. Can’t wait to see what Tara does with the rest of the land.
