Deceived by camp description !!
The place was not really a Hip Camp place with standards. There were really no camp areas, fire pits or nice toilet/ showers. They had a nice photo of the barn, but all around the place was not managed , old cars , junk all around, etc . …
Definitely a bit “off the beaten path” for our minivan and camper to traverse (some pretty big gravel hills!) but Mike was incredible at accommodating us. He went out of his way to get us hooked up with electric, brought us fire wood, even brought us chairs and let us borrow his head lamp since we were trying to set up after dark. We had a nice quiet stay and our kids had a blast :)
An excellent host and secluded stay
We arrived at night and were a bit confused where the site was but once we drove in a bit further we saw the barn, silo and area all lit with strings of lights, it was beautiful! the campsite is very secluded at the edge of the property but close to running water and a porta-toilet.
Mike is an incredible host, he lent us supplies, offered the barn for us to sleep in if the weather got bad, and is an incredible human (Was in Hong Kong to report on the Protests in 2020). We went to Devil's Lake one day and followed a great swimming recommendation from Mike on the last day of our trip and it was tranquil and made for a lovely day with my partner.
Would absolutely come back and stay again, Mike is an excellent host and creates a space with good vibes, communicate your arrival and he will ensure a good stay. =]
The site was everything we were looking for: peaceful, clean and had some great visitors during the day (Daisy the dog, Alice the cat and the chicken crew). Mike and his crew were wonderful, accommodating and great hosts. Clean porta potty, delicious eggs, plentiful firewood and citronella torches. Thanks for having our crew. Cheers! This place is absolutely awesome, friendly and welcoming! Mike is a super hosts, offering us the barn to camp in after news of a storm was headed our way. We had a blast camping and watching the storm from the barn that night. Thank so much Mike for having us, truly an unforgettable experience!
