Deep in the backwoods of rural Wisconsin, Camp Escape is an excellent spot to disconnect with the 21st century and get completely off grid. At this camp, a handful of secluded sites each come with spectacular lakeside views and shelter from pine trees for complete isolation.
Here’s a chance to test your wilderness skills. There’s 70 acres of private forest and four kettle lakes at your disposal, so getting to know your surroundings must be top of the list. You can potter around on the water in rowing boats and canoes (both free for campers to use) and fish for bass to grill over your campfire. Kids can safely run off energy, make new friends at the play areas, or go scavenging for raspberries in season.
Beyond camp, there’s a whole wilderness of 5,000 acres just begging to be explored; take a backpack and hike or horseback ride into the forest, or rent an ATV or snowmobile for winter adventures in the hills. At the end of the day, though, there’s probably nothing better than sitting on a wooden dock overlooking a lake and contemplating the wilderness as the sun sets.
No-fuss amenities at this back-to-nature campground include fire rings, wooden tables, and parking by each site. Gas cylinders are available, but there’s no drinking water so you'll need to bring your own. There’s one compostable toilet on the park as well as plenty of dirt (and trees to hide behind) for catholes.
Don't let the name fool you, this site is secluded in a wooded area over looking Skinny dip lake. Boats are available on site to wind your way around the narrow river way to open waters. Additionally, 4 looped trails will make this spot an adventurers paradise.

It was so lovely! We loved kayaking on the lake, very serene.
Amazing property, tons of space. Since there are so lakes your group will be able to find a spot to relax peacefully. The barges in the middle of the lake are perfect at night for star watching and and escape from the bugs. Some of the coolest and friendliest dogs I have ever met. Only thing, bring tick spray
This is exactly what we were looking for! Although there were other people staying here, we had so much privacy, access to kayaks & plenty of firewood, so much space to explore! Our battery of our car ended up dying the first night, so in the morning Tara was more than willing to help us out with that! She’s so friendly & accommodating, while still giving us all the time & space to enjoy our experience. I’d recommend to anyone & we will be back for sure! Our time there was so enjoyable & we are so grateful Tara shares this beautiful place.
Our stay on Tara's land was everything we were looking for! Tara was very friendly and helpful when we saw her, ortherwise we were left to our devices, which was PERFECT. The land was gorgeous and better than we expected. Trails throughout the property made for lively morning and evening strolls, and the kayaks were worth the adventure of getting out of where they were kept totally worth it! There's also plenty of opportunities close by for hiking if that's your thing.
