Orchard Hilltop Camp @Willoway Farm

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience camping here for one night in May. As a couple that considers themselves on the introverted side of things, it was fantastic to be able to camp in what amounts to a private campground, just for the two of us.

Sure, there were plenty of opportunities to mingle with the kids and dogs on the property, so we weren't completely alone, but that's also a good thing. We were a little bit close to a road, but you'd be close to a road at almost any campground in the area and at least here you had NO other campsites around to keep you up all night with noise.

The setting was gorgeous on top of a little hill with amazing sunrise/sunset views, the location was well-situated (short drive to Harrington Beach SP or Kettle Moraine North) and you have the option of purchasing locally grown produce if you'd like.

There were a couple small drawbacks (very little shade for more than maybe one or two small tents, outhouse toilet, difficult access to water for cleaning/drinking) but I think that was mainly due to the fact that we were the first hipcampers at this place and I'm sure they'll be addressed as this wonderful little site evolves. The hosts were super cool and I highly recommend staying a night or two here.

Regarding “the road” for those reading. It is Jay Rd a country road not a highway or county road. Car traveling especially at night is infrequent and no driver can see you or the campsite. Regarding water because it is a hilltop campsite we have not paid to have a irrigation system on top of our hill . The water is a 40 foot walk from the the outhouse. The outhouse is a several hundred foot walk from campsite which is great for privacy and sanitation.

We had a great stay at Orchard Camp. The location is beautiful, at the top of a hill, with expansive views. There was some road noise at night, but it was wonderful to be the only campers on the property. Our kids enjoyed the tour of the farm from the owner's 5-year old son. Great place to camp with young kids. My only suggestion would be to add a picnic table to the camping area. We had a great time and will definitely be back!

Amazing stay at this beautiful spot. We camped for one night with our 5, 3 and 1 year old. The kids loved seeing the farm animals as well as cranes and deer out in the fields. Tent pad is nice and flat and shady. The spot overlooks the farm and still feels private. Road is close and can be intermittently heard but not seen.
Hosts were so helpful and have really put some thought into providing an exceptional camping spot. We would highly recommend to families with kids and will be back again ourselves soon.

Our group of 4 enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay at the Willoway Farm campsite. Our hosts were very hospitable and accommodating: they greeted us, introduced us to the resident farm animals, and brought firewood up to our campsite when we stepped away for a hike in the area. We also took advantage of their meal offer, and enjoyed a home-cooked, reasonably-priced dinner and breakfast on their lovely patio. The campsite itself is located on a hill overlooking the beautiful property - a gorgeous place to make s'mores over a campfire while watching the sunset. We can't wait to come back!

What a lovely escape from the suburbs of Chicago! We felt so happy here for a night- we'll be back for sure! Great hosts, great campsite.

I loved my stay at the Orchard Camp! The hosts are very sweet and the kiddos were happy to show me around the rest of the farm. The camp is perched at the top of the hill, which has great views for sunrise and sunset, and there's a fair degree of separation from anything else nearby, so the campsite also has decent privacy. There's a disk golf course all around the farm to keep you busy during the day and for $10 the hosts will provide enough wood and kindling to keep a fire going into the night. I'd recommend bringing a gallon container or water bladder to fill, as the water source is at the bottom of the hill and you'll need to bring it up yourself. Overall, it is a lovely little spot and I'll definitely be back!

Stunning spot! Up on a hill with gorgeous views of WI farmland. We were tucked up in the corner with a fire pit, picnic tables and perfect spot for our tent. Very kind host--overall a great experience. Looking forward to returning when things are green:)

Great campsite and super friendly!

This has to be the most unique campsite we have visited. Perfect for kids as they get to interact with many of the animals on the farm. Our hosts were very accommodating and their 6 year old son made our boys (9&11) feel right at home.
There is also a great beach 20 minutes away at Mauthe lake which is part of Kettle Morraine North State Forest, this made for a nice day trip.
The farm is only a little over 2 hours straight North of Chicago so it's perfect for a last minute retreat. Do not hesitate to book your trip here, you will not be disappointed.
