Stay #3 for me.
Another great weekend at Matt's property.
I stayed in site #3 this time around. Although all of the sites are great, this is my current favorite. There is an epic huge tree that is the backdrop to the firepit here.
The site is spacious with lots of room to set up tents.
There is also a portapotty at the start of the driveway at this site. It's close enough to be super convenient for you as you stay. But it's also far enough away so you won't be bothered by other campers using it.
I look forward to stay #4.
My wife and I were looking for a quiet and secluded place to setup for the night, and that's exactly what we found here. We called when we arrived and Matt and his wife pulled up within a few minutes to show us to our site.
We were on site 3 and it was set off the main road enough to when a vehicle did drive by, which only happened a few times the first day, you could barely see or hear it. Behind and to the sides of our site was nothing but wooded area, so it was completely private. Located at the end of the path to the site was a clean portable toilet to use as well.
Matt and his wife stopped by on our second day to see how things were going and drop off some homemade make syrup we had purchased. They stayed to chat for a bit and have a short history of the land he owns in the area and then let us alone for the rest of our stay, which was nice!
They had mentioned that there were plenty of trails to explore and we only got down a few of them, but they seemed to never end. Hoping to get further next time we visit. The sites are deep in the woods so it gets completey dark at night with no surrounding city lights! We were even awoke in the middle of the night by howling coyotes in the distances, which I thought was neat but my wife didn't care for!
Overall, the hosts were very accommodating, yet have us our privacy. We were a bit skeptical at first due to this being our first try on Hiocamp, but it was a great experience if you are looking for seclusion without being too far out.
Beautiful stay at site 5
We stayed at campsite #5 and it was lovely! There is a lot of room to move around and it's by a small pond. Communication with Matthew was a breeze. He invited my friend and I down to their Saturday night campfire and we met his family who were all amazing. Also, lots of trails throughout the property. We hiked around and got our fill of blackberries. AND Matthew has honey and maple syrup made from the property. We tried the honey and it was delicious. Great stay!
A very beautiful place to stay on extensive farmland. The owner and his wife are both very nice people and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area. There are also many paths to walk on the property itself.
Secluded and private
We needed a secluded and private camping experience away from other humans and Matthew delivered! We thought it was thoughtful of him to place sand down for the tent spot: made it easy to sleep on, great for drainage, less mess with putting the tent away afterwards too. We felt like we had a private forest to ourselves. It was perfect for us!
Great place to camp
I thought 44 north was a great place to camp. I had site 5 which was next to a pond. Matthew was there to greet me and show me around. There are plenty of places to hike and I wasn't really bothered by any bugs. Best of all the sites were pretty secluded.
