COVID19 Update: Private Bathroom/shower (see below)

2021 Updates: review bullets at the bottom

* it doesn't get much better than this for group campers.. Riverfront, incredible views, seclusion, privacy, easy river access, balance of shade and sun, hot showers,  tons of parking, store within a walk..

* very large secluded waterfront site suitable for larger groups on the Cacapon River surrounded by woody areas on 3 sides and mountain on the other side of the river. Site is a great value for larger groups, as we don't charge anything extra up to 10 people, and only three bucks per person afterwards.

* deep and shallow spots for fishing and kayaking (upsteram site is more shallow, but it's deep by the bridge)

* put in upstream for trips ranging from 1h to whole day and camp along the river

* this site is great for multi-family groups with kids, the waterline is mostly calm and shallow by the shore,  you can easily see your kids due to low shorelines, and you can also walk to the bridge 1/8 of a mile and "tube" through the rapids down to North site between hours of 9am and 6pm

* Stoney Creek Country store within walking distance for your basic needs plus pizza, milkshakes, subs, ice creams.. and home of the "best cheese steak you ever had"

* you can burn any driftwood you find (plenty!), but no cutting of trees/vegetation allowedu

* this site is closer to the bridge, but very secluded and there isn't much traffic on Route 9, especially after dark. Most of the noise you'd be hearing would be river rushing through the stones.

* this site has better WiFi reception and is closer to the bathhouse/store.

* If you're bringing an RV/camper, in order to stay on hard surface, you'll be 80+ feet away from the river. The trees will keep your camper private and in the shade. The site can fit up to 3 if you don't leave tow vehicle attached.

* Please review Stoney Creek Campground parent page for nearby attractions.

COVID19 Update: "Private" to site bathrooms. You will be issued a pin code. Two rolls of TP and a roll of paper towels will be provided. The bathroom/shower will be cleaned prior to your arrival. Your group will be responsible for keeping the bathroom/shower stocked for your needs, and as clean and disinfected as you're comfortable for the duration of your stay. The port-a-potty by the store will be a backup option. If going to the store, please wear a mask and review COVID19 guidelines posted at the door.

All long weekends will require 3 night stay (Memorial, Independence, Labor) and have a price premium.

If you'd like to come in earlier than check-in time, you can check with us if we can accommodate, but the best way to reserve that morning is to book additional night.

River Conditions: Google: "national weather gcpw2" for current and forecast river conditions. The river will likely become dangerous to enjoy past 5ft at Cacapon gauge.  "Good" (safe) range is 1.5-4.5ft. Actual river depth varies.

2021 Updates:* There will likely be a new site between South and North called "Rocks", referring to the rapids which the site will be facing. There are about 320-350 feet of shoreline between North and South. We should be able to maintain good privacy for all sites, and river should help minimize any noise.

* We will allow all campers (and campers only!) to tube down from the bridge river access across those rapids and exit and the north most point of the North site between hours of 9am and 6pm. We had campers take advantage of this on a case by case basis asking the North site for permission, but we'd like to set this expectation ahead of time.

The site was well maintained except for directly at the Waters edge. It would have been nice to have a clean sweeping view of the river but it wasn't excessive and most likely helped avoid errosion of the site. There were a handful of spots for hammocks and we got about 8 or 9 tents on the site. There was a rock fire ring which was by the water, an area to get in the water/drop in kayaks. The water by the south site was perfect, right before some small rapids so we were able to get in at a safe space and paddle upstream. The store was clean and organized with a lot of options for things you may have forgotten or not packed enough of. There was a lot of driftwood when we went so we didn't even have to buy firewood. The bathrooms were really clean and close to the site so it wasnt inconvenient. There was ample parking which was buffered by trees so we could camp without directly seeing our cars which was nice. 2 picnic tables really helped and were located by the fire ring. There was a boulder we used for additional seating. We were far enough from the other campers to have privacy and the trees buffered us from the mobile homes so we had our own privacy. The drive was super easy and easy to find. Definitely will be back!!

Thanks Amberlyn. We have since trimmed down the offending (but still alive) tree.

Our group of 8 had a wonderful time at this campground- the area was beautiful, private, and clean with immediate access to a peaceful river. Andrey was really helpful and gracious. A big plus is the bathroom- well-maintained and reserved for our group. A great experience all around.

We had a great time! We have a 6 and 7 year old and they had a blast fishing and tubing! The privacy was amazing and the connivence of the store was an added bonus. Only suggestion would be wider walkway to the river and some poison ivy control throughout. However, we enjoyed it so much we already booked our next trip here!

My group and I had a wonderful stay at Riverfront south location. Our camping group consisted of 19 people and the site had ample room for 10 tents and a RV. The river front access was well maintained and we had no trouble getting in and out of the water. We had our own clean bathroom and the wifi reached our campsite which was a bonus. The country store was nice and had everything we needed. We also booked the tubing trip which was very much worth it. Our group was large and he had everything we needed for the trip. We will defiantly be coming back.

We had a wonderful weekend camping. My favorite part was taking my lawn chair into the river with a glass of wine and feeling the clean river water run through my toes while I watched my daughter throw rocks and play in the water.

Andrey was great! He welcomed us upon arrival and walked us to our site. He also checked on us the following day to see if we needed anything.
We had plenty of space as the site was large enough for a group of 10! We were situated right next to the river and had great weather all weekend. There was also plenty of wood around the site for a nice fire to cook our food on.
It was also great having access to a real restroom and shower facilities. These were kept clean and stocked.
My friend and I look forward to make another trip out there to enjoy the great spot!

The location was easy to find. The South site has access to WiFi but you will need to move around to find it ;-). There is a store on site that has most items you may have forgotten and they also cook food with a good selection. The campground also provides a bathhouse which is nice and big and the shower has decent hot water. The water does have a metallic smell but it works good enough to keep the days camping smells at bay and not offending fellow campers. We were able to get 3-12 person and 1 six person tents on the site without sitting on top of each other. There was also 2 picnic tables and a fire ring on site. Only thing I’d recommend: cut some of the Riverside vegetation down so you can enjoy the great view. Yes, I’d come back!

The bathrooms could use a lot of work. A friend and I both got locked into one after closing the door. There were spiders in them. Toilets were tiny. Other than that the place was great. Folks at the store were very nice, the campsite was situated very close to the creek and made for great ambiance.

David, thanks for your feedback, we have since replaced the bathroom locks, please see site pictures. As far as toilets go, there are 2 basic standards in US: round and elongated. The ones in the bathhouse are round.
