COVID19 Update:  Private Bathroom/shower (see below)

* it doesn't get much better than this for group campers.. Riverfront, incredible views, seclusion, privacy, easy river access, balance of shade and sun, hot showers & flush toilet, tons of parking, store within a walk..

* spacious secluded waterfront site suitable for larger groups on the Cacapon River surrounded by woody areas on 3 sides and mountain on the other side of the river.  Site is a great value for larger groups..

* deep and shallow spots for fishing and kayaking (this downstream site has wider river and calmer waters)

* this site is great for multi-family groups with kids, the waterline is mostly calm and shallow by the shore,  you can easily see your kids due to low shorelines, and you can also walk to the bridge 1/8 of a mile and "tube" through the rapids back to the site. Fun that can last for hours.

* put in upstream for trips ranging from 1h to whole day and camp along the river

* Stoney Creek Country store within walking distance for your basic needs plus pizza, milkshakes, subs, ice creams.. and home of the "best cheese steak you ever had"

* you can burn any driftwood you find (plenty!), but no cutting of trees/vegetation allowed

* this site is suitable for RV/dry camping, you'll need to get a little creative with finding a level spot, and be relatively good (but not an ace) with your trailer/RV.

* Please review Stoney Creek Campground Page for available nearby attractions.

COVID19 Update: "Private" to site bathrooms. You will be issued a pin code. Two rolls of TP and a roll of paper towels will be provided. The bathroom/shower will be cleaned prior to your arrival. Your group will be responsible for keeping the bathroom/shower stocked for your needs, and as clean and disinfected as you're comfortable for the duration of your stay. The port-a-potty by the store will be a backup option. If going to the store, please wear a mask and review COVID19 guidelines posted at the door.

All long weekends will require 3 night stay (Memorial, Independence, Labor) and have a price premium.

If you'd like to come in earlier than check-in time, you can check with us if we can accommodate, but the best way to reserve that morning is to book additional night.

River Conditions: Google: "national weather gcpw2" for current and forecast river conditions. The river will likely become dangerous to enjoy past 5ft at Cacapon gauge.  "Good" (safe) range is 1.5-4.5ft. Actual river depth varies.

* We will allow all campers (and campers only!) to tube down from the bridge river access across those rapids and exit and the designated downstream portion of the North site between hours of 9am and 6pm.

The Rocks site is the newest site is our largest site. It also is probably the flattest, and lowest lying with ability to camp within feet on the river. It was added in between the North and the South site. There are still at least large spaces between sites. Currently it's probably not the best site for RVs or campers, as hard pad would be about 100ft from the water. The site is entirely in front or rapids. That means that the river is shallow. It's good for kids exploring, but you'd have to go upstream to the bridge for a swim hole, which isn't that much different from the South site. It also means you'll be close to pacifying river/rapids sounds, which many campers seem to enjoy.

A great spot near the water and just enough privacy from the other campers. It was just myself, my wife and our two dogs there but the space was quite large and would be excellent for groups. Camp store and the bathhouse were also huge pluses.

We loved the camp site. Its right next to the water. The kids had loads of fun playing in the water and tubing. Andrey was very good with communication. Would definitely come back.

Being on the river was great. Having the only store for miles around in walking distance was very convenient too

We loved loved Almost Heaven! This is our second time there. We had a group of four families, three with kids ages 2-5. Two years ago, we stayed at the North campsite which has excellent swimming access but made us a little nervous for the little kids. Rocks had slippery rocks so the danger of a split knee was greater but less so drowning :). We love the bathhouse arrangement for privacy and security; the store for forgotten sundries and easy firewood bundles; the spaciousness, shade, and privacy of the site; and of course the proximity to the river. This trip Andrey shuttled us up for a 2 mile canoe float right back to the campsite which was awesome as well. Thank you!

It was the July 4 weekend and we heard fireworks both nights (2nd and 3rd of July). The second night they were distant. The first night they were practically overhead, twice - once from the bridge and once from the nearby community, until past 10 pm. It was way too loud for our kids to sleep at their usual bedtimes. Nothing the campground could have controlled but just a note that while the sites feel very private, they are pretty close to regular communities who might make big noises.
