Escape to our beautiful, RUSTIC 34 acre wild homestead / farm. Perfect for a solo retreat or shared getaway.

This cozy and private 10 x 10 , insulated tiny house in the woods has a sleeping loft that accommodates 2, a sofa and coffee table, rustic sink, a single propane burner stove, woodstove , solar powered, and battery string lights, outdoor seating and a chimnea.  Although it's a "house"... it is rustic...think glamping. We are 100% solar powered. That means that sometimes the tiny house may have power, but we cannot guarantee it. It all depends on the weather . It is a short, but sweet, 2 minute walk from where you park your car through the woods to the house, and the closest outhouse (Hicamp Porta potty) is also under a 2 minute walk. *Please bring your own sleeping bags and/or sheets and pillowcases for sleeping on bed, and towels.

This is a working medicinal herb farm, a community of beautiful souls,  as well as our home. Please read all of our guidelines for camping here thoroughly, as well as Arrival Instructions, so that you can be well prepared ahead of time. We are happy to answer questions, however most of the answers to your questions will be listed  in the info we've given. *We do not provide firewood, but you can buy a bundle from 7/11 or Food lion just down the road.  *There is  a lot of wildlife out here on the land and they make a lot of weird and sometimes startling noises. This is also perfectly normal for rural / wooded areas.

Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables), hang out in the hammocks, get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered  and at at risk plants. You may see our dog, Tulsi wandering about.  She is friendly, just please let her sniff you first. She is old and partially blind, and that helps.

Downtown Shepherdstown, the Potomac River and the C &O Trail is just 10 minutes away. Upon arrival, grab a handout from the box on the visitor parking sign. The map on the back has a layout of the land and should point you in the right direction of campsites, water, shower, outhouse, and whatever else you might be looking for, including recommendations of great places to eat in town and fun things to do.

Shepherdstown  Peddle and Paddle in town offers rentals for kayaking , canoeing tubing or biking. We are also within an hour drive to the Appalachian Trail and several state parks - Harper’s Ferry, Washington Monument State Park, Gathland State Park , Shenandoah  National Park and Catoctin Mountain State  Park  !!

We offer a variety of classes and events on the weekends as well. Small groups... not to worry. We have 34 acres, so there is plenty of space. If you would like to know what we are offering for the  weekend, you can visit our website sacredrootswv.com.

- Campfires -  We do not provide firewood. Please bring your own firewood bundle. 7-Eleven and Food Lion  just 10 minutes away has some for sale, and you are welcome to forage from downed trees and branches . Woodpile in front of yurt (our home) and in Sacred Circle is not for public use. Please DO NOT burn fires in Sacred Circle fire ring (we use that for ceremony only), or fire ring by yurt . Thanks.

-Some cell service does not work out here. We have AT and T. Verizon is spotty if it all.

- Maps of land and local tips located in box under parking sign.

- Potable drinking water is available . Bring container for filling. Water pump location is on map.

- There is a railroad track about 10 miles away. If you are a light sleeper, we recommend bringing ear plugs.

- Please note..,we do not issue refunds if you choose to leave early due to rain..

- Check out our local farm stand while you are here (located outside the small garage door). We always have a variety of handmade and homegrown goodies for sale .... anything from fresh eggs, herbs, berries, wooden spoons, baskets, and more !

- Schedule a massage on the farm! Andrea Jannotta is a licensed massage therapist offering holistic bodywork and somatic meditation both here on the farm as well as in downtown Shepherdstown.  Experience a calming massage surrounded by the beauty of the land and the songs of birds.  Her contact information can be found on the Sacred Roots website, call or text for rates and to schedule an appointment.

- We are 100 % Solar Powered .  If you need to plug into an outlet, you can plug into a power strip that is in the garden pavilion on the other side of the land....IF there is power available at the time. Power availability is subject to the weather. There is no guarantee.

- If you are looking to come to the woods to PARTY... this is NOT the place for you !

This little glamping cabin is nestled into the forest and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Stove burner worked great, bed was super comfy, and there are basic utensils/cups/plates etc. The Sanctuary is a magical place, felt like I was in a bubble where time stopped. Highly recommend booking a stay here

This tiny house was adorable and it's got everything you need, but it's still rustic enough to feel like a getaway. Hillary explains everything for the stay very well, and there's fun things to do within 20 mins of the site. Highly recommend staying here, I will be going back!
