Just minutes away from Cranberry back country ,Cranberry glades, Hillscreek falls and the highland scenic highway. 8 miles off of route 19 where you can enjoy Summersville Lake and Gauley River Whitewater. Just a few miles on down the road to the New River Gorge, where on an October day guests from around the world come to jump off a perfectly good bridge, with parachutes attached of course. To many mountain streams to list all, where I myself enjoy fishing for our state fish Native brook trout. Cell service is sketchy in places, which I consider a plus if you want to enjoy all the beauty. My friend Rick Greene will take you and your family via mules and wagon to trout fish the Cranberry River, where no motor vehicles are permitted. Access only on foot, bike or horse. By appointment at cranberryadventures.com . Numerous walking trails and ATV trails. The Williams, Elk and Cranberry rivers are some of the best trout streams in the eastern U.S.

It was beautiful. Large sites. Plenty of dispersed area, well maintained, friendly host. The sewer hook up was a little far but we did not need it for our 1 night stay. Great hiking spot
A perfect nature escape
John owns a little piece of heaven in a cozy small town. It was private and absolutely beautiful. John was kind enough to meet us when we arrived and show us several tent sites to choose from. All of the sites were accessible by car (though some need 4 wheel drive) and clearly marked. We ended up staying as high up as we could which made for an amazing view. We always had firewood, and we weren't bothered by any other campers the whole time! The bathroom and hot water shower were a total blessing as well.
The campground is centrally located so its easy access to the New River Gorge Bridge and Summersville lake, an hour and a half from Charleston, and only 2-3 hours from other attractions in the state like Spruce Knob Mountain and Huntington.
I can't wait to see what else John adds to his campground and we will definitely stay here again next time we come to Wild & Wonderful West Virginia. 🥰
Perfect! John is so kind and shared both firewood and a grill. The campsite is close to New River Gorge National Park, and the rafting outfitter's. On the campground alone, there's 250 acres of land to explore and tons of wildlife. Can't wait for a return visit next spring!
John, and his family very friendly making our stay enjoyable we will most definitely return. The grounds are well cared for. There are several clean freshwater ponds. There is a public bath house, clean well maintained. Full hook ups for your RV (50) amp service. Water and sewer services
Great as always.
This is our fourth or fifth stay at John’s . Great stay as always. We will definitely back. Planning a trip in October. Thanks John for a great stay as always !!!
What a wonderful property! My husband, dog, and I had a ball walking around and seeing the sights. John was a great host, very communicative and helpful. He recommended some hiking trails to check out in the area and was overall a very responsive and kind host. We're looking forward to going back!
