These spacious campsites next to the road are a beautiful and ideal place for easy and safe overnight midsize rv / car / van / popup / trailer camping or setting up a tent facing our enchanting forest. It's proximity to the I-5 freeway makes it a convenient spot to rest while passing through.  Relax in a hammock while watching wildlife or start your morning off with a short walk through the forest below along the nature trail. This site is very private asside from being next to the country road.

SITE 1:  This roadside spot is at the West Edge of our property and feels more private as it borders our neighbors wall and the heavily forested area below with overhanging trees.  There are two designated tent sites or you can pick your own spot. There is a wire spool table and log seats.

SITE 2: This roadside spot is beneath a large fir tree and overlooks the forest and property below. The open area is great for sitting around the fire pit and star gazing. There is no table at this site currently, but if you really want one we'll get it for you.  There is 1 designated tent spot or you can pick your own.

You'll have access to The Salmon Creek River on the Southeast edge of the property which is about a 7 minute walk down throught the woods from the campsite. There is also an entry through the pallet gate near the driveway to the right of the house.  Splash around in the water or launch a kayack and play beneath majestic cedars or catch crawdads and fish for your fireside dinner! You'll have river access between 10 and 8.  Our neighbors across the river seldomly come down but it's a possibility.

*****INSIDER TIP***** If you want to stay several nights and don't want to be by the road, reserve a spot at our Forest Retreat site or Riverside Retreat site!

Preferred Check in times 7:30 AM-9:00 PM-We do accept later arrivals, but meet and greet may not be available until the morning.

We are family and pet friendly and like to live communally. We’d love to share a meal and join you around the fire or down at the creek but understand if you want to have your space.

The bucket toilet located in a tepee has woodchips, a compostable bag and a trash bag provided to line it. Cover your waste with a handful of woodchips each time you use it then please pack out both bags when you leave. You may want to bring a bucket to transport your bags in the car. Use the codeword PTP when you reserve your spot so I know you read and understand this!

Julie was a warm and welcoming host. The property is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. Stayed an extra night. Very nice change from the average campground. We recommend Roadside Retreat! Take a 5 gal. bucket. 😁

Julie is an excellent host. She is flexible and accommodating to my particular needs. I felt safe for a single woman camping. I very much recommend Julie and her sites. And it takes under 15 minutes to get into Vancouver.

Julie was great! The site was a pull through which made it easy for us. Really nice if you are looking for something out of town but would like to hang out in Portland- this is your spot!

I stayed in the "RV" section of the Salmon creek campground. The price was right and was on a quiet back road. The camp site is a wide patch of grass along the road but after dark there is very little traffic. Fire pits were nice and always make camping more fun. I was able to fit perfect with my camper van. Thanks for a nice stay.

Our group of 5 stayed on Wild Sage Permaculture's Roadside Retreat and it was great! It was easy to find and easy to pull into. There was plenty of parking for our 3 cars and the site was really peaceful and quiet! I had searched all over the state parks for a campsite close to Portland and the closest I could find was 45 minutes away and they were all booked! Wild Sage Permaculture is 20 mins outside of Portland! The little touches made this site feel homey, like the cute table cloth and fresh flowers that Julie and her children set up on our table when we arrived! Julie also had firewood ready for us and even delivered it right to our firepit! We felt completely safe leaving our campsite and gear for the day while we ventured into Portland. We also spent some time exploring the river and nature trail on the property and when we returned to our site Julie had left of some delicious Yakima peaches with a lovely note! I will definitely be returning to this site the next time I want a quiet campsite close to Portland. Thank you Julie!!
