Top of the Gorge Camping
Quiet, private, and great view.
The campsite was very private, quiet, and had great views. Don't miss the sunsets from the top of the hill! There were even hiking trails directly from the camp. While a 4WD/AWD vehicle is helpful to get to the site, if the conditions are dry I wouldn't consider it required unless you're hauling something. Just take your time and be considerate to the road. The site can be very windy, which, can be a huge plus with the hotter temps, but it also made cooking and meal prep challenging. We found that moving these activities from the deck to between the woodpile and the firepit (not accessible at this time of year due to the fireban) helped a lot and saved a ton of butane for our stoves. We also placed our tent behind the containers to quiet down the wind. If you've read this far, I would highly recommend camping here. Spencer was very helpful with additional directions and the entire site and toilet were extremely clean. We will definitely be back.

Top of the Gorge Camping
This is a single campsite tucked up in the hills above Lyle and the Columbia Gorge. We had just one Camper Van but there is room for several vehicles. The site is very quiet, very private and has amazing views West to the River and North to Mt Adams. Our stay in mid-June saw a meadow full of wildflowers. Our dogs loved running in the grass too. Great site for those that want seclusion.

Top of the Gorge Camping
We got there at a perfect time late May to witness the beauty of the wildflower bloom. Spencer was very considerate of our comfort and even brought us more mulch for our tents. The land we stayed on was very open and allowed for plenty of wildlife gazing and wildflower walks. I’d definitely bring binoculars next time since you can see for as far as humanly possible on top of the hill where we camped and even greater views up the 2 mile path to the summit of Stacker Butte. The wind was howling that high up but fortunately the shipping containers (soon to be for rent I hope!) blocked almost all of the wind. Thoughtful layout of the camping area and bonfire pit. It was such a perfect secluded spot for contemplation and conversation.
