Hello HipCampers, this is our CarCamp listing: please feel free to check out our TentCamp or RV-Camp listings if they better serve your needs.  Yes, your tents are welcome here too.

Bullet points:

-very LITTLE cell service/ no wifi

-your tents are welcome on grass, sleeping in car/van okay on the flat driveway

-one outlet available for phones or charging gear

-bring dry fire wood if desired

-BARN CATS! are too lovable and too friendly BUT treat like squirrels as far as food! You absolutely have our permission to SHOO them away.

-ROOSTERS! we have sold off many, but it only takes one for an unwanted 4am cockle doodle doo. Bring ear plugs if desired

Read Below for a BUNCH of info:

-This is to specifically reserve the BLUE-SHED area car camp (#2 on the google earth site map) (to reduce numbers, I've closed off the second ''carcamp'' site, if your group-unit needs more space, just ask at booking or reserve a TentCamp Site 1 for roughly the same price as extra guests)

PRICE-The small price difference above TentCamp reflects reserved amenities for CarCampers at this specific site: picnic table, fire place, old simple charcoal grill,  cooler(no ice),mowed grass, blue farm spigot to rinse dishes, easy accessibility from your car: ten steps from parking spot.

-It's like going "car camping" at a state park, concert, road trip, etc.  but without a neighbor 5 feet away.  Park at blue shed, pull out your tent and gear, and enjoy the farm setting surrounded by 1000s of acres of our neighbors wheat, peas, lentils, or barley.

PARKING:  As a CarCamper, we appreciate it when possible for folks to park close to the BlueShed on gravel, right at the edge where the mowed grass and dirt/gravel meet. This will help with compaction and keep grass alive.  This will put your car about 10-30 feet from where you choose to put up your tent. (VW bus style campers, feel free to inquire about van parking)

PRIVACY: while you will be the "only" CarCamper, there may be an RV guest 100 yards away and some TentCampers 100-400 yards away from your specific site.  There is some privacy at CarCamp with blue shed, corral fence and grasses in the summer, but there really are no mature trees or enough hills for total privacy.

BYO: dry wood, ice, and pop up pooper if desired (or walk 400 yards out back to dig a cat hole behind the old orange horse trailer BUT it really is about 400 yards away)

SHARED AMENITIES: all campers have access to propane grill at barn concrete slab, metal wash basin, and hopefully a flat mowed meadow near pond for your yard games when we can keep up with grass.

BOOKING TIPS: if our other farm sites aren't booked up and you have 7+ people in your group; make 1 reservation for CarCamp @ $22(4 guests) and 1 reservation for TentCamp @ $15(3 guests).  Your TentCamp friends can pitch their tent next to you if you'd like, or walk "outback" for more privacy.  You'd basically be limiting the number of total camping-groups on site, and giving yourself more space.

-More info below, some repeat info:

Same general farm-site as "Palouse Stargazing TentCamp" on the Old Weber Farm(please cruise on over to "Palouse Stargazing TentCamp" listing for more photos and reviews).

This is to reserve the mowed grass area at the BLUE SHED and currently beige shed and old red barn.  Flat grassy area for multiple tents next to shed, barn, corral, recent tree plantings and an old self-feeder.  [If you are a TentCamper parking on gravel and walking out 100-400 yards to "dispersed sites" away from Barn, Driveway and Windmill Meadow, please see and book the "Palouse Stargazing TentCamp" listing.]

CarCamp has a dedicated picnic table, fire ring, water spigot and cooler on site(byo ice) as well as friendly access to all other shared items near cement pad next to barn: propane grill, charcoal bbq, plug in, etc

--NO WIFI--    --cell service is very hit and miss: some texting may function

-------below is info on a few local lakes and attractions-----------

-TURNBULL NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE: 8.9 miles to gate entrance; nature trails and many small lakes for wildlife viewing

-BADGER LAKE: 13 miles to public boat launch and restrooms; Kayaking and fishing.

-WILLIAMS LAKE: public boat launch and a small resort on the lake.  Check out BUNKER'S RESORT

-STEPTOE BUTTE: 36 miles one way, with some beautiful paved farm road alternate routes available from our farm.

-PALOUSE FALLS: 2 hours drive via St. John, Lacrosse, Washtucna (you can actually pass through Hooper, where I grew up)  We highly recommend this route instead of going through I90 and Ritzville)

Great place to pull in for the night. Both my dog and I loved waking up and being greeted by several farm animals.

Basic spot. The stars are in fact gorgeous. There’s not a lot of shade so if you’ll be there during the day prepare for that. I had an enjoyable night’s sleep there. There are roosters, they do crow. The morning scenery was breathtaking at sunrise.

Animals Animals!!! Loved it brought back some memories! Cows, chickens, miniature horses, ducks but the goats stole the show!!
If you want a farm experience here ya go.
As for star gazing. I saw other reviews complaining about the lights on the farm. If you want a true star gazing experience you need to be 100 miles from any major city.
For this camp I saw plenty of stars, lots of meteorites and a few satellites.
It was a great stay will be back again!

Great little spot. We didn't get to spend too much time because we were headed east to some National Parks but I couldn't have been happier with Matt's place. We arrived well after dark and went straight to sleep but waking up to the sunrise and seeing his beautiful place and watching the animals do their thing while we got ready to move on I immediately knew I would stop their their again if I needed a place in Eastern Washington.

Great property here. And you've got company with the cats, chickens, miniature horses, cows and such. Nice spot, great views but I did have one issue.
If you're going to bill it as a great place to star gaze you might want to get rid of the arc sodium light that lights up the whole area. You can't claim great star gazing and have that light there.

The owners were away (But very polite and responsive by text) and the person that they had fill in for them was lovely. When she found it it was our honeymoon she brought me some flowers in the morning. The farm was beautiful, the sunset breathtaking and after many days of sleeping at roadside stops it was so peaceful and green. There were many birds and animals and a very friendly little kitty. The rooster gets up very early but we had to be on our way and it was cute watching him chase the chickens. We were also treated to a very exciting thunder and lightning storm. I would definitely stay there again if we are ever back that way. We loved it.
