A truly amazing Pacific Northwest experience. Located in the heart of the Puget Sound on the island of Vashon, known for its quaint, laid back, nature-loving community. A short ferry ride away from both Seattle and Tacoma. Nature and activity lover's paradise, with available kayaks, amazing biking, hiking paths, beachcombing and walking trails. Real glamping experience, no power, only battery-powered lights, no running water. Bring camping supplies. Semi-private property. Polite neighbors on each side, and a couple of roaming friendly dogs in the area. (there are no fences)

Since there is no power there is no heat, the yurt is insulated but it still gets cold. Imagine tent camping. The queen size bed has a down comforter, and a warm fleece blanket made into the bed. There is also an extra queen size fleece blanket on the bed and a throw size fleece on the couch. Please bring extra blankets or sleeping bags. If an air mattress is to be used, remember to pack "bedding.” The Air mattress and pump are in the grey wicker storage by the couch.  Please close both doors upon leaving the yurt. There are two latches from the inside, top, and bottom of one door. The door will lock on its own when you pull it shut. The property next to us has two friendly dogs that roam around a bit, June and Cash. Unfortunately, there are no fences but they are friendly and listen well.  Thing to bring• Flashlight • Sleeping bag or extra blankets• Food• Water• Ice• Cooler• Firewood (We may have some on-site)• Life preservers for Kayaks.      Small propane tanks if you would like to use our indoor safe heater. Pack warm for spring/ early-summer, early-fall nights.

Thing provided• Grill with propane (Tongs and other cooking equipment in the brown tub under yurt) • Small propane burner and Tea kettle to boil water. LOVED THIS PLACE!! We went kayaking, grilled out ( they provide propane grill so you can cook during fire ban). A view of Mt Rainier from BED!! Luckily Mt Ranier was out all weekend for us because it’s not always out.

Just a lovely lovely view. Oh well furnished yurt. A comfy bed. And oh so many seals. We really enjoyed our time there. The only thing we wish we’d had was some shade. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

Pros: Absolutely beautiful views. Great decorations. Cute spot on Vashon. Vashon has limited (to none?) public beaches so having access to water was clutch. The check in process as so easy.

Mehs: Compostable toilet during the very hot weather wasn’t great. I imagine this is fine in normal PNW weather. Neighbor’s spotlight shining on the fire pit area was a vibe killer. Note this place doesn’t have a shower. This was challenging with the very hot weather.

Awesome spot! We’re looking forward to coming back in the future. Spent hours sitting and watching all of the beautiful surroundings and petting the friendly neighbor dogs. It was honestly a dream.

The yurt was beautiful inside and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable. The view of Mt Rainier made it a really special spot. My 5-year-old and I walked down to the beach from the yurt and had a great time exploring. It was just perfect, and rejuvenating after a tough year. I've already recommended it to friends and am thinking about trying to make it an annual trip.

I found this place to be unlike any I've stayed at before. You are at once in a comfortable yurt with indoor potty on an undeveloped lot on the southern tip of Vashon Island AND having a view of the SeaTac metropolis, with a stunning view of Mt Rainier and the Port of Tacoma. There's a fair bit of noise from all of the activity on/over Puget Sound, so it's not totally quiet and peaceful, but there are harbor seals bobbing around offshore, a bunch of seabirds foraging during low tides, and either an osprey or an eagle residing in a tree right over the yurt (if I am not mistaken--not a big birder). Overall, the only thing that was inconvenient was not having water on site, but this was probably in the directions that I had read some time before arriving and did not recall. (That said, I am a fifty-something, harried parent, so it comes with the territory.) We had a good stay at PNW Waterfront Yurt, and I think 20-40 year old me would have liked it even more. It was great to be able to take our two large dogs and one of our kids. Plenty of space for the lot of us. Lovely spot and host.
