We are a small homestead and apiary (honey bee farm) tucked beneath Mount Rainier in the beautiful PNW where on a clear day you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the mountain.
We offer 3 campsites** in an open field where it’s not unusual to see elk or deer in the early morning hours or to see ducks, geese and other waterfowl enjoying our pond or hear our resident frogs serenading you in the evenings.
There are wildflowers to enjoy, bees and other pollinators to photograph, and on clear nights, the star gazing is amazing - bring your telescope if you've got one!
Our property is adjacent to National Forest Land, perfect for hiking, foraging, and hunting. We are located 5 minutes from Mineral Lake - home of the 10 pound trout, ideal for the avid fisherman, boater, kayaker or all around water enthusiast, 5 miles from Alder Lake, 10 miles from the quaint town of Ashford, and we are only 15 miles from the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier National Park.

That being said, if you do chose to stay with us, please avoid the “bee shed” and beehives unless you are with our beekeeper. And, please ask us any bee related questions if you see us out and about. We enjoy sharing our love of bees. If you’d like to learn more, you can even purchase a “beekeeping demonstration”, payable as a Hipcamp "extra" or in cash money when you arrive.
PETS - We have 2 dogs that that patrol the property, several barn cats that roam, keeping the mice population down, as well as livestock that make their home here. There are wild animals that visit our property. It’s best to leave your pets at home, but if you must bring them with you, they must remain on a leash and in your control at all times and please pick up after them.
LIVESTOCK - We have Chickens & Turkeys. The turkeys will greet you with you with friendly gobbles and clucks when you arrive and a our rooster can seem rather vociferous as he announces each new day earlier than we expect. AND this year we’ve added two adorable calves, Blondie and Munchie that would love for you to visit and feed them grain!
Fresh eggs and local honey available for purchase payable as a Hipcamp "extra" or in cash money when you arrive.
If you need gifts for the folks back home or souvenirs from your adventure, we also have a selection of our soaps, honey in glass bottles, honey suckers and other “honey bee” related items available -- just ask us and we’d be happy to show you our stock.

Couldn't have asked for more kind, generous hosts than Starla and Steve. From offering to switch us to the site with the best view of the mountain, to gifting us a sample of their honey and a squash from their garden, to even checking in with a text when we had a late night hiking trip and didn't make it back until after dark, they go above and beyond.
The property has an incredible view of Mt Rainier. And even if the fog decides to roll in and hide it for 90% of your trip, the land itself and surrounding area is beautiful. Very convenient clean water system and easy to use, good-smelling sawdust toilet/bucket tent. We were left wanting for nothing!
Couldn't recommend Misty Meadows more!
Steve and Starla were extraordinary hosts. They were both remarkably astute in getting a feel for what we might need before we even knew to ask.
For all Steve & Starla did to make our stay spectacular, the stunning view of Rainier across the bucolic backdrop would have been plenty on its own.
Between the scenery, the hosts, and the assortment of welcoming wildlife from fowl to feline, honey-bees to hounds, every last bit was exceptional.
If you’re in the area, on your way to the area, or by any road that could, in theory, lead to the area, then please, please, please consider staying here. Steve and Starla are wonderful, as is the space that they’ve created. There’s a majestic view of Rainier, a gorgeous town, and a pristine lake, all located even closer than the national park, which has an entrance a scant 15 miles away. Steve and Starla, in addition to a couple of puppers and cats, also care for their own apiary. We took advantage of the experience, and they are generous in their sharing of knowledge. And we even got some honey from the hives!
Starla’s property is beautiful! She and her husband Steve are wonderful hosts. We loved this campsite and will definitely be back! Make sure to purchase some of their fresh honey and some eggs with your stay!

A cozy and BEAUTIFUL stay with views of Rainier. We camped in lot 2 and are so grateful for the experience this hipcamp offered. There was a beautiful view of Mt Rainier, great stargazing, and clean compost toilets. The property has turkeys and bees! We did the bee experience which was so informative and overall amazing. Steve and Starla are so sweet and accomodating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thank you Steve and Starla!

What a beautiful place this is!! From the quiet campsites to the beekeeping demonstration, Steve and Starla are truly wonderful hosts that make sure you're taken care of. A nice place to sleep for the night and get to know two sweet people.

Steve and Starla were great and amazingly friendly hosts! We had a lot of room for our three tents. They had a hand-built picnic table at our site. The compost toilets were really close. Their house was close by, too, so our questions were answered quickly, and they checked on us often. The fauna and flora were abundant and pretty. I did take the beekeeping course - it was the highlight for me. They provided literature, connected me with local, Seattle beekeepers, and gave me a sample of their honey. The camp was close to so many choices for recreation, and we had a hard time choosing but were happy with the hike to Granite Lake. Elbe is super cute too. Highly recommend!
