Come and enjoy the big sky and open spaces on our Central Washington homestead. From your campsite you will be able to sit and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets and view of the Cascade Mountains to the West. At night you will only need to look up into the sky to clearly spot millions of stars. You will also be given farm fresh eggs to enjoy with a meal.

On our homestead, you can visit the chickens, sheep, goats, turkeys, and rabbits. If in season, you can explore the garden. Enjoy the walking trail right on our property or ride your bikes. Kids will have plenty of room to run, play and picnic. Children are also welcome to set up their own tent for a night of parent free fun.

With a short drive you will find seasonal hunting, fishing, biking, hiking (Beezley Hill) , lakes, golf, mini golf, water park, bowling, and a good selection of restaurants. There are also two Walmarts near by for any of your needs.

A little farther and you will find natural pools at Potholes State Park, Soap Lake, Coulee Dam, and Lake Lenore Caves.

Interesting fact: Our homestead is located on the McConihe Flats. 1200 years ago the Sinkiuse Indians would meet on the McConihe Flats and trade. They would also collect things along the shore of the lake such, as duck eggs and reeds, which are still around today.

Conveniently located between Moses Lake and Ephrata Washington. Only 12 minutes from either town where you can find Walmart and other stores for all your needs.

We loved staying here! On arrival we were greeted with farm fresh eggs from their chickens and a little tour of their homestead. We got to say hi to all their animals and shown the strawberry patch to pick from if we felt so inclined. We slept out of our car but it was nice and quiet at night (we slept with our windows open). If your someone who one day dreams of having their own piece of land and doing the homestead thing it's really fun to get to walk through and see all the cool stuff they have set up. The composting toilet was clean and as someone who in general is not the biggest fan of spiders and other bugs I can say the little house for the toilet was clean and bug free. We brought our puppers with us and he really liked getting to smell around and check out some of the property. Our hosts were very friendly and easy going, the whole experience was great! My husband and I were on a roadtrip and we stayed here twice, once on the way there and then again on the way home and both times were great!

My kids and I stayed at Whimsy Rock Homestead for one night, and it was a delightful place to rest our heads before continuing on our road trip. I picked it in part because my kids love animals, and we were not disappointed. We saw the chickens, goats, sheep, turkeys, etc, but the stars of the show for us were the 3 adorable kittens that frolicked around the property.

Our hosts were very gracious. John met us when we first arrived and showed us to our campsite, as well as how to use the compost toilet.

We were familiar with composting toilets already but this was probably the nicest one we've used, as it utilized cedar shavings instead of sawdust, so it smelled like fragrant cedar. It was also super clean and cute too with flowers painted on the side.

The sky at night was beautiful, and we could clearly see the Milky Way. Our sleep was quiet and comfortable.

Christine brought us a basket of fresh eggs in the morning, and helped us pack them up as well, because I opted to bring them with us to the next stop on our journey rather than cook them on the spot, because I didn't have the right kind of pan to cook eggs.

The only recommendation I might make is if there might be some way to have a little more privacy in the campsite itself (maybe some bushes or trees could be planted around?), but really, Christine and John gave us plenty of space, and I would definitely recommend this spot, especially if you like cute farm animals!

What a wonderful Place! We stopped by as we were passing through to Seattle. Our kids LOVED it and are asking when we can go back. Ours hosts were great at sharing info and even sent us with some fresh eggs. We’d definitely dry there again, loved the goats and sheep! And we *almost* took home a cat:)

Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the site because the smoke was so bad and we decided not to camp in it- but the hosts were very kind and communicative!

John and his family are incredibly gracious hosts. We enjoyed meeting John and learning a bit of his background. He’s very easy to talk to but they also gave us our space. The composting toilet outhouse set up provided privacy in an otherwise rather open piece of land. We oriented our tent to look out towards the open land and it was truly a wonderful view. We drove just a few minutes up the road to Moses Lake where there’s a swimming area, playground, picnic tables with BBQ set up, and restrooms. When we returned, they had given us a small basket of fresh eggs! Definitely recommend this location off the beaten path! Easy to find and they even gave us a jump in the morning when our car wouldn’t start!
