Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush. The campsite is at the bottom of a rugged drive so an SUV or AWD vehicle are recommended, especially during the wetter seasons of Spring and Fall. There is a fire pit, outhouse and large picnic table. Be sure to bring your tent, firewood and water. You might spot some wildlife including deer, eagles, raccoons and salmon running during the Fall. Don't forget your camera and binoculars to take in the awesome views. Local places to hike include Wallace Falls, Sunset Falls, Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls, or maybe you like rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking or fishing. All are available and located just minutes away. A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated after you stay at The Landing. Approximately 55 miles east of Seattle and 25 miles west of Steven's Pass.

Beautiful, well appointed on river!
This is by far the best hipcamp experience I've had! Great communication, easy directions, beautiful spot, thoughtful amenities, clean clean clean! He even delivered firewood to us because we got there late and it was cold. I highly recommend this hipcamp site!!!!
The best site hands down
Amazing campsite! Stayed here a handful of times at site 1 & 4. All sites are super spacious and quiet and close to the skykomish River. Site 1 is the most private and closest access to the River bank. Super clean and well-maintained and David is super responsive. Locked outhouse that is super clean also very well maintained. Wish we could come here every weekend. This has become our go-to campsite and will be for years to come. Books up very fast so plan ahead!
This site is beautiful! We stayed at site 4 and had a perfect time. The views were stunning -with half the leaves down you could see so much of the mountains, the river was full and roaring from the recent rains, and everything was lush and mossy. We lucked out with a clear night and the stars were intensely bright.
We really appreciated the lines hung near the table, the huge table itself, the spacious fire pit and grate, and the two comfy chairs already present. There was a lot of room to spread out for three tents, and even though the river completely covered the beach it still felt like a really spacious site. The outhouse was legitimately comfortable, and it and the camping area were spotless. The owner was friendly and helpful, and clearly takes great care of this place. I hope we can make it back to see in other seasons too!
We had a fantastic weekend of fall camping and really enjoyed our stay at the Landing. We had site 4 and the views (of Mt Index I think) were fabulous. Also had a front row seat to a salmon run in the Skykomish just steps away. Would love to come back and check it out in warmer weather!
Late summer dream
Beautiful peaceful setting, mountain vistas, spectacular bird watching, spawning salmon, lovely beach and good facilities. Very special place. I was a guest in the spring and also late September, both times wonderful. Thank you Dave!
