Jessie's camp is set in the middle of the hundred back acres. It provides a lovely camping experience in a surround of trees.  Named after my daughter because it is a favorite of the my grownup children to camp here.  The area has gently rolling hills filled with wildflowers during the earlier part of the Summer. Dragons Gate Gardens and Wilds has a hundred and twenty acres to explore.  The Skookumchuck River is a little over a mile away where you can explore a waterfall and walk along the river with low bank where one can get into the water. Doing so is a great favorite of our guests.

We are wild and woolly. We provide a place to experience nature as it simply is. We privilege pollinators above human aesthetics.  Wildflowers abound, including various dandelions which many are edible and healing plants.  We encourage converting from lawns to meadow lands being supportive of wild birds and insects. If you like it wild we are the place for you. This is not a resort or English style garden. Tall grass, wild flowers and trees fill the land around you to give you a feeling of full immersion in Nature.

Please note that check-in is from 2 pm until 8 pm. All members of the party must check-in at the front gate. It is required to check-in prior to going to your site. Parties arriving late will be charged a late fee of $25. for the first hour and an additional $50. for being over an hour late. We do not site campers after dark. (Our State Parks close their gates at dusk.) We also ask our campers to observe quiet time after 9 pm. It is important to be respectful of all, that includes the other campers.

When requesting to book please include whether you are bringing a trailer or RV and its length, how many cars, how many people, and how many dogs, so that I can better site you and your party. When choosing a site you might consider my two other campgrounds which Giant Crystal Retreat and Moon Meadow at Dragons Gate Gardens and Wilds.

The pool and hot tub are closed until further notice. Updated 7/12/2021

In response to some guests' complaints about the fees thinking they should be different because the water features are not being offered, when the pool and hot tub are available there are extra fees involved. They have never been included in the camping fees. The camping fees have been the same for the entire time I have been on Hipcamp which is four years now. If you feel for any reason that my fees are not in your budget we can recommend other sites.

Please let me know you've read this far by telling me how many smokers are in your group when you send your booking request.

Kathleen was a great host and super responsive. My family and I were extremely pleased and enjoyed ourselves very much. It was quite, private and accommodating. Not to mention the nearby honey bucket was extremely clean - which was a plus! Jessie's camp is a great place to unwind and unplug from the city life. My family and I will be back for sure.

Jessie's Camp at Dragon's Gate was beautiful and peaceful--just what we were looking for. Our site was surrounded by trees that offered a layer of privacy which was nice. Our nearest camping neighbor was far enough away that we felt like we had our own space. We only spent one night but would definitely come back with a larger group and a longer stay in the future.

Massive property and lots of space between sites. Also during the week we had it all to ourselves. We had 2 littles and could just let them roam around and not worry about disturbing any neighbors or traffic. Thanks for a fun camp!

We arrived at Jessie’s Camp on a Friday evening. I was really excited to camp here. It looked magical. We went through the gate and we were kind of wondering what to do. There are two houses to the left the same color so we were confused as to which house we were supposed to go to. Eventually Kathleen came out and hopped on a hold cart and showed us the way. The camp site wasn’t the one I booked to my dismay, but she said this one was “better” because it was shaded. So this is not really a review of this specific sight since we were never shown the site we booked. I really wanted the grassy camp site I booked with sunshine. So I was immediately a little disappointed. Online she has said we could a choice of another camp site, but when we arrived, she didn’t mention us staying in another spot
, only that we were the only ones. I should have spoke up but it’s awkward when you are on someone’s property in the middle of no where. I mentioned firewood but she said her husband and son took care of that , so it was unclear where and when that would happen. All in all the intro felt awkward. What stood out the most is the lecture on wild life to be aware of. I understand that people need to use caution. But she said it was more wild there then the state parks and made it sound as if we could be seriously hurt etc. if we aren’t carful. She went on to say that “we lost two bikers in this area” and that they died by cougar attacks. I later realized she meant in Washington state but at first it sounded as if she meant at that specific location and she didn’t clarify, to clarify one mountain biker was killed in 2018, in the Cascades and this had nothing to do with this specific camp ground. But it was enough to scare our whole family. She continued to warn us of bears and possibly coyotes that could wonder through our camp site at night. Keep in mind my seven year old was present and wide eyed. After all of us this she said there was some ants which we could visibly see on the ground. After she left we all kind of just stood there. We started setting up camp and I felt disappointed. It was a very beautiful surrounding and we felt very far away from anything. But it was honestly nothing like I pictured. The energy just felt off. We realized after setting up our tent that we were on a giant ant hill. There was hundreds of ants, giant ones crawling all over . We then moved our camp to a completely different , beautiful spot in “Moon Meadow”- not sure why this beautiful spot wasn’t offered to us and why the shaded, small, and dark spot with ants all over it was? We camped in moon meadow the rest of the night despite most of us being really afraid since we were specifically warned of “dangerous wild life”. I was expecting a bear or cougar to pop out of the bushes. There was a ton of mosquitos - so bring bug spray. All in all we left the next morning very early. I don’t know if it was just an off week or not but our experience didn’t match any one else’s magical time .......... Wouldn’t go back again.
