Doe's rest is named for the two does that frequently visit to rest, graze and sleep here. They can be seen almost every day passing through on their rounds. The site itself is set back into the forest, amongst a grove of mature Douglas Fir and cedar trees, surrounded by a carpet of ferns and woody vegetation. The site is secluded and quiet, with night sounds of frogs, barred owls, coyotes and occasional barking dogs singing along. Do bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to night noises . The site looks out into the open pasture just beyond the fence. It is outfitted with picnic table, 7 gallons of potable water in a jug, fire ring, bench and flattened tent pad or trailer area. It is a back in site only. It is a short walk, maybe 30 yards, to the porta potty. Cowboy camp proper is a short walk through the woods on a well travelled path or along the main gravel entrance road. A lovely short walk through the forest lies adjacent to the site and loops around through the field to return.

We hope you will enjoy your stay at Doe's rest.

We had a great time at Doe's Rest. We were escorted to our campsite by Rick who was very personable. He gave us a tour of the property and recommendations for things to do the following day. We saw several deer during our stay.

We had a wonderful experience at Cowboy Camp. We will be visiting this camp again in the future.
Rick and Karma were very accommodating and truly enjoy hosting and taking care of the campers. Our site (and the others) was quiet and peaceful and at night it was so dark the sky was illuminated with a million stars.
Also a short walk up the trail to visit the horses was a treat everyday.
Port Townsend downtown was only a few minutes away as was the harbor.
A+ for Rick and Karma and Cowboy Camp. A job well done!

What a great place to camp! Port Townsend and Fort Worden are awesome to explore. Rick and Karma’s camp ground is close to town but you feel like you’re in the woods when you’re there. They are wonderfully accommodating and some of the nicest people I’ve met. See you next summer!

We came down for the Thing festival and we're greeted with open arms back Karma & Rick. Lovely, fun people who are ready to help if you should need anything. Plenty of space for 3 Tents with a nice bench, picnic table and firepit already on site, along with a nice trash can. Can't state enough how wonderful our experience was. Do yourself a favor and take a weekend off and head to the Cowboy Camp.

It was great to be greeted by Karma and Rick as we arrived in this private, wooded, quiet and peaceful spot. They are a generous and warm-hearted couple. We were in the area to ride bikes, and they knew all the trail options, many of which were accessible from their rural road! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. No bugs! Very quiet!

We had a wonderful time at Rick and Karma's camp. Rick was so welcoming and a delight to talk with. The land is gorgeous and we felt so safe there. Having horses out and about was an amazing sight when we woke up in the morning. 10/10 recommend!

I don’t even know where to start. Karma & Rick are two gems of humans, and they make you feel so incredibly welcome from the moment you step on their land. They are new to the hip camp world but you’d think they had been doing this for years! The property was beautiful, and the conversations we had with Rick over cowboy coffee will never be forgotten. Book this place right NOW!
