Pitch your tent on a beautiful acre of land that has a private creek in the back of the property that runs into the Chehalis River. The property is being fenced for privacy for you to enjoy a peaceful stay.

Camp site is a two minute walk from the main cabin and trailer. We are now offering the 10×14 main cabin for $50 a night. It sleeps four comfortably, has cable TV, dresser, and beds. You will have access to a big community fire pit in front of cabin and bbq grill in front of trailer. You are walking distance to Rainbow Falls State Park and all of its amenities. Hiking, fishing, white water rafting...

Or you can fish right on the property in the creek, from fall to winter, when the creek is the highest, Salmon come up from the Chehalis river to spawn and look for food, so bring your poles because you will have a private fishing hole.

A white Stork and wild ducks make this creek their home, so you will be able to enjoy the sounds of nature in a private setting.

Just a really beautiful area of Washington and a 30 minute drive to the coast. A one mile drive to the nearest store which is Doty Washington. A friendly community and great neighbors.

My wife and I are seasoned tent campers, adaptable to most situations and have been traveling in the western US for over 2 months. We arrived at Costello's on Thursday July 29 for what was to be a 6 night stay to explore the area. We left after 4 days due to the poor conditions we found upon arrival and additional problems that occurred during the course of our time there. In our travels this is the first campground we left early.

First, there was no hot water which the host explained he was out of propane, but that it would be working tomorrow. We never saw hot water during our 4 days there. Secondly, there was an issue with the trailer septic system where the restroom is located. When the host was asked about the smell when we arrived he said "what smell" and then said he thought it smelled like someone had used the restroom who had been drinking. The next day he had the septic tank serviced, but the strong sewer smell returned a day later. The water from the trailer was discolored and had a strong smell which reminded me of sulfur we and would not have cooked or drank with this water. Upon arrival he showed us 3 or 4 cases of bottled water in the trailer for our use. We always bring our own water for drinking and cooking. There was another water source in the pump house that appeared much cleaner and we would use it for washing dishes. On Sunday there was no more water at all in the trailer which was needed to flush the toilet. There was also no more toilet paper. The campsite itself was not safe. There were numerous dead trees that presented a significant safety hazard and should have been removed before allowing anyone to set up camp there. We were able to set up our tent on a relatively flat spot, but it was not a level spot and had a significant incline. An old card table was provided that was in terrible condition and not suitable for eating on. Snakes were seen on a regular basis near our campsite and in the surrounding area. The property is located at the corner of 2 roads. Traffic noise was the worst we have experienced. It quieted down some around 10:30, but there was still quite a bit of traffic noise.

The description of the property is not accurate. I think it would be impossible to fish in the creek any time of year as it is just an overgrown mess. The host said he had sanitized the trailer with bleach before our arrival. We could smell no bleach and when we went looking for toilet paper never saw any bleach.

I last talked to the host by phone on Monday, August 2 when we drove into Chehalis. There is no cell service at the property. He would not listen to me and gave me a lecture about "being positive" and then said he was in Tacoma and would be there at the camp in an hour. After this conversation which my wife heard we decided is was best to leave this bad situation. It took us about 2 hours to go back to camp, pack up and leave. We never saw the host.

Prior to scheduling this stay we had read about the property and the reviews. The poor review posted on July 21 was not available at that time or we would not have booked this property. Her review is essentially correct.

Wow, I'm sorry Larry you had a bad experience at Costello's Creek! This has been a very busy year for us with everything opening up from Covid, so we haven't been able to get up the property as much as we would like this year. As I mentioned to you, I had family visiting in town the week you arrived and my wife wouldn't be staying up on the property for your whole stay. We live and work in Portland. Last year for every hipcamper we hosted we stayed on the property to make sure everyone has a peaceful stay and fun. This year has been different. I apologize again to you and your wife that we couldn't be there for your whole stay to accommodate all your needs for $20 a day. My wife and I are both professionals and we do this for the love of camping and fun, not money. Yes, we have lots of garden snakes in this part of Washington, but they are harmless. Sorry you were afraid of them In the fall and winter when the creek is the highest, the current pushes all the summer debree into the river and lots of fish come up the creek. I'll post pics this winter. The table is a table someone left on a concrete slab by your campsite, you guys chose to take it to your campsite. It is not our table, but most campers find some use for it. Sorry it wasn't suitable for your needs. The dead trees facing away from the campsite you used will come down, thx for the tip. I can't fix the noise from the hwy and most campers know about it from the same reviews you read. Sorry it was to loud for you and your wife. As far as that campsite being leveled, some say it's fine, some don't. I guess it depends on the camper. Sorry it wasn't perfect for you, which is why we only charge $20 a night. We do this for fun and not a living. We will have someone on sight from now on when we host to fix little problems that come up... Like no toilet paper, no water in trailer, but the hose to pump room is right there to fill trailer. Thx for all the criticism and we will work on having a better experience for future hip campers! I hope you guys have a safe trip home!

This was the worst experience I have had and I feel completely scammed out of my money and lied to. This campground should not be on Hipcamp and I am shocked it has not been taken down earlier. The campsite is dangerous and has none of the amenities listed on the posting. There are no trails, the toilet did not work, and the shower and sink were both pumping out sewage. The water smelled like poop and was brown. The fireplace was poorly made and made us worry that we’d start a forest fire. The campsite is on the corner of a highway and a major road so it feels much more like you’re homeless than camping. And there are extremely loud car sounds going through the entire day and night nonstop. The ad said bottled water is provided, but there was only enough for two out of five of our days. When we asked if there would be more water, the host showed us a water well, only unlocked on the third day of our trip. The well did not work and then the host tried to blame us for breaking it. The host said that the bottled water was for him and his wife and that the well water was for the campers…!?!? He is trying to make us drink water that he himself didn’t even seem confident in drinking. Our campsite was 90% slanted, making if very difficult to pitch a tent or eat at a table. There was a recently fallen tree leaning onto another tree making a loud creaking sound and we were scared they could fall at any moment. The entire campground was overrun and overgrown, there was an active snake habitat 20 feet north from our tent (thankfully nonvenomous). I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with this listing—it falsely advertised nearly all of the amenities. That being said, Fred did allow us to borrow a lighter and folding chairs and use the microwave in the trailer.

Stay at the campsite 7/2-7/4 and it was a nice location. Secluded and loved the scenery driving it. Fred was great in responding to messages. He has a campsite with a tent in case you don't have one. We stayed on site #3 since we had our own tent. Right near the creek, and there is a state park close by.

My boyfriend and I stayed here 4th of July weekend and it was really nice. I definitely recommend coming in the summer because all the flowers are in bloom and it is really beautiful. We stayed at site #4 by the little creek. Fred was super nice and helpful and easy to communicate with. The site is really close to Rainbow Falls State Park where we spent our time fishing and enjoying the cool water. Lots of carp and trout fishing there as well as awesome hiking. Only minus I would say is the sites are close to the main road (you can’t see the road from your site but you will occasionally hear cars pass by) so unless that’s something that might bother you, I’d definitely recommend coming here. We will most likely come again when we have another weekend off. Thank you for having us!

Both Fred and Dawn were amazing hosts. My son, two dogs, and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Costello's Creek. I enjoyed hearing the history behind the property and about the plans for it going forward. The sites are right off the freeway but there are two that are set back far enough along the creek that you hardly notice. The amenities offered in the trailer were very nice as well. It was so nice to be able to have a fire and listen to the quiet at night.

We enjoyed our night here. Fred and his wife were very welcoming. I wouldn’t recommend it for families with small children at this time because it is close to the road and Fred is still in the process of building a fence. However, it was fine for our 10 year old and 16 year old. We walked to Rainbow Falls State park from there and it was beautiful as well.

We loved our weekend here! Thank you to Fred for being a wonderful host. The site was lovely and private and had great sunshine, unlike the state park campground that is dark and cold and full of people. The property is only a short distance from the falls.

“Clean, orderly, and very gracious.” Are my husbands comments. We really enjoyed our little one night get-away. Fred was super welcoming and took the time to show us around and be sure we felt at home. He and his wife also gave us the space to relax and be chill on our own, enjoying our first Hipcamp night away. Everything was as advertised and accurate to the reviews. Beautiful see the garden growing lush, and will be even more peaceful spot as Fred finishes putting up the privacy fence from the main road too. It’s a beautiful part of the state too, and we look forward to coming back for more time hiking and adventuring from this great little “home base” too. We even picked up a bonus kitten to bring home, enlarging our family by one from the trip as well! 🤯🤷🏻‍♀️😂
