This is the place where forest meets fancy! Tucked away in a peaceful, secluded corner of our farm, enjoy all the benefits of a forest escape while still enjoying the comforts of home.

☑ Our 16x20 canvas wall tent, built on a custom-designed reclaimed and salvaged-wood platform, is equipped for year-round glamping on our 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm.

Chuckanut Hills Farm is 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. For drivers on I-5, we are just 5.8 miles off the Alger Exit (# 240), exactly 15 minutes from the freeway off-ramp.

☑ We are conveniently located between Bellingham and Seattle, one hour from the Canadian border, surrounded by thousands of acres of DNR and logging land forest.

The final leg of your trip will be two miles of bumpy, gravel road deep into the forest. When you arrive at our gate, enter and drive up our steep gravel driveway and park in the designated area. Meet-and-Greet or Remote Check-In options both available, just let us know your preference!

After parking, hike 50 yards up our steeply sloped grassy hill and out of sight behind the trees, where you will find your tent tucked away in seclusion.

We have dogs, cats, ROOSTERS, rare and heritage chickens, guinea fowl, turkeys and ducks! You will hear our many roosters crow at dawn, and dogs bark throughout the night to ward off potential predators! If you are a highly sensitive sleeper, please plan accordingly. Earplugs are included in the amenities!

The cats you will not hear as they are silent ninjas. You may also hear other campers through the woods, our farm tractor or our voices, owls, eagles, hawks, coyote and thousands of songbirds. You'll hear the wind rushing through the treetops, and in season you will hear the creek babbling down the hill. Most importantly, you can hear yourself think.

☑ Our farm is fully off the grid - our solar power is periodically supplemented by a generator, which you may hear running to fill our battery banks. We work hard to plan this for non-invasive times.

It's true, canvas tents DO get cold at night in winter! When you arrive, we will help you build a fire in the wood stove if you desire assistance (on chilly days, we will have the fire going before you even arrive), and before bed you can load the fireplace with one of our high-energy high-heat compressed logs, which will burn for several hours.

The fire goes out typically around 2AM, so stay snug underneath the heavy bedding and drink in the health benefits of sleeping in a slowly cooling room - did you know there are amazing recorded health benefits to sleeping in a slowly cooling room? Our temperature rises as we near morning as our body assumes our campfire will be dying down, and as the rooms cools our melatonin rises, our stress levels reduce, our quality of sleep deepens, insomnia incidence reduces and even our metabolism improves!

Stay tuned to see future options with a propane marine heater - not yet available!

This was 100% hands down the best hip camp experience and even Air BnB experience of my life. The tent was beautiful, cozy, and rustic but very clean. The fire was super easy to tend, and they had a separate propane heater so you could make it through the night (LOVED the heater. It really made all the difference as I was up there in 20 inches of snow in early January). They had though of literally everything, and it make the whole experience so easy, so stress free! No need to brings pots, pans, utensils, blankets, nothing. It was more lux than many hotels I've stayed at. The bed was significantly more comfortable too. I had my best sleep in weeks. And the sauna, omg the sauna, it made my entire weekend. One of the best parts is the whole place is off the grid, so you just got to experience pure, clean nature without any emf radiation or noise. I absolutely loved this experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get out of the city for a deeply rejuvenating stay.

Andrea and her family were very welcoming, communicative, and accommodating hosts. The tent was cozy (even on the coldest two nights of the year!) with a well stocked wood stove. We enjoyed the tea drawer, the sauna cabin, and all of the thoughtful touches. Thank you for having us on your beautiful land!

the tent, the wood stove, the animals, it was all amazing! the tent was gorgeous and the wood stove kept it nice and toasty. the sauna was a treat after a cold day and you barely noticed you were off grid! they do a beautiful job of sustaining themselves and their 2 Great Pyrenees made sure we were safe and sound every night by walking us to the tent! my husband and I will definitely be back during the warmer months and would recommend this beautiful place over and over!

Had a great time at Andrea's place! The weather was a wintry mix of snow, rain, and hail but we stayed dry and cozy in the huge tent. The sauna was a perfect way to warm up.
Communication was clear and timely, the bed was comfy, would stay again.

What a wonderful weekend getaway. This has been our favorite home away from home to date. A truly special place. We appreciate all the thoughtful touches added to our experience, and the card for partner’s birthday. Thank you for enabling some intentional time for us in nature.

We had such an incredible time. It was the perfect getaway! The king size bed in front of the wood burning stove was so comfortable. I loved tending to the fire all night. The sauna was a perfect way to warm up and end our evening. We cooked over an open fire while the dogs laid next to us. The kids explored the woods and hid from the dogs in the dark and played with the cats in the daylight. We could not be happier with our luxurious and wild adventure. Thank you for all of the work you put into this magical space. We will be back!

With gratitude ~

Lovely, charming space! There are 2 polar bear dogs that will greet you and jump on you if you show any interest in them and the most aggressively affectionate cat I have ever met, so if you don’t like animals, this may not be the place for you. We happen to love animals so all the snuggles were welcome! Our first night, there was a gale force rainstorm but we felt very secure and cozy in our tent with the wood fire stove crackling away. The bed was hard to get out of, it was so comfy, and there were a zillion thoughtful touches (like too many to list) everywhere you looked. I was disappointed we didn’t have enough time to really explore the grounds or to take advantage of the sauna but it’s ok because we will definitely be back!

Just spent a lovely, relaxing weekend with my child in the brand new luxury tent and had a wonderful time. The site is in a gorgeous part of the state with sun-filled spaces, untouched forest and mountain views. The tent is beautifully appointed with care, supplied with the little things that bring comfort such as hand-made quilts and furniture, pure essential oils, twinkly lights, and thoughtful cooking accoutrements. For us, nothing beat the beautiful cold food store filled with uber-local, hand-made foods such as fresh eggs from the property, fresh cream and milk, cream cheese, home made jam, and more.

A part of our experience was observing and interacting with the working animals on the site. It was fascinating to get a view of what each animal does to contribute to the functioning of the farm. We gleaned an appreciation for their lives and the food we ate.

We were well tended by our kind hosts, enjoyed learning how to manage a wood stove, and marveled at the brand new sauna cabin. Each evening we snuggled luxuriously in our bed under piles of blankets next to the warm fire, comforted to sleep by the sounds of the Great Pyrenees working their shift. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will return. Highly recommend this unique experience.

There's many free-roaming animals to enjoy, one more fascinating than the next.Another beautiful bird.Gorgeous bird and speckled friend.A mother hen and chicks.
