Located in a lush forest on the Quimper Peninsula, this spot is perfect a night or two of camping.

We were inspired by three thru hikers we recently met in the backcountry at Olympic National Park hiking the PNW Trail who said they passed right by Carben Forest wished they could have camped on our property.

Carben Forest is located on 20 acres right in Port Townsend, Washington. Our family of four is homesteading in a 1968 Airstream and love nature, hiking, and the outdoors. Come join us on the property to relax for a few days or to explore the Olympic Peninsula!

Our site can easily accommodate two tents and up to 6 people. It has chairs, a wood slab table, and a small fire pit (we provide firewood for the first night!). From your campsite, you are a few steps away from the Larry Scott Trail (but still very private), 15 minutes to Port Townsend, and ~1 hour to many of the Olympic National Park access points.

In addition, we have an outdoor setup for cooking and cleaning. For cooking, we have a refrigerator for your use, a gas-fired BBQ, and more. For cleaning, we have a warm water outdoor shower (amazing after a hard day hiking or paddling!), washbasin/sink, and a composting toilet dedicated to campers.

We are HUGE fans of the Olympic Peninsula and our local businesses!!! We are happy to provide recommendations for any and all of your needs during your trip. Some of our favorites for food include Finnriver Cidery, Chimacum Corner Store, Hama Hama Oysters, Discovery Bay Outdoor Exchange, Port Townsend Vineyards, the Cocoa Forge, and Velocity Coffee; for getting into nature we love Fort Worden and the Elwha River. We have hiked, camped, surfed, in the area for over a decade, and have enjoyed this area's amazing farms & restaurants since moving out here several years ago. We're happy to provide detailed recommendations.

Most importantly, we love to share our land and community with others. We look forward to hosting you, your friends, and your family for an inspirational and relaxing Olympic adventure.

Everything was great about this site. It was away from people but close enough if we needed something, we could find it. The toilet and shower was extra nice as well! The hosts are super chill and very nice!

I had a great stay at Carben Forest! When I arrived, the host showed me around and was super friendly and accommodating.

The campsite was simple, with a clearing perfect for a tent. They had a rustic table and some stumps to sit on next to the fire pit (where the hosts had some wood and kindling to use), and it made for a really cozy spot to camp. The walk from the parking area to the site is short and easy but it gives it a really nice feeling of being in the middle of nowhere!

By the parking area, there was a sink, shower, bathroom, and even a fridge! You'll have absolutely everything you need, but it feels so remote and quiet. I'd definitely come back again!

We stayed here for 3 nights on a 5 night Olympic Peninsula trip. It was a great place to be. Rachel and Joel were so friendly and helpful in answering questions and guiding us to the activities we were looking for. Having running hot water for dishwashing was great! We used the cart to haul our stuff to the campsite which was really helpful because I hadn’t organized well even though I knew it was a walk in site. The campsite was simple and pleasant, with a nice metal box to set up a cook stove. We heard owls two nights and coyotes the third.

My daughter and I loved the private campsite and easy access to the Larry Scott Trail. We live in Port Townsend so this was a mini bike-packing getaway- so much fun! Also the trees were perfectly spaced for our hammock. Thank you so much!

The Carben Forest is a quiet secluded location for tent camping. I met with Joel and he seemed very likable. I messaged Rachel and she responded quickly and thoroughly. Running water, showers, a small refrigerator, electricity, and a compost toilet are provided. Grounds were clean and well maintained. My time there was wonderful and I would highly recommend this camp to anyone interested in a nature getaway.

Beautiful forest camp site! Rachel and Joel were awesome, super responsive and helpful. Our son loved the horses down the street and the slug sightings. The campsite had everything we needed.
