Get off the grid and retreat to the farm in our tiny (tiny, tiny!) cabin + sauna! We live off an old abandoned logging road between two timbered mountains. Up and down the logging road are incredible hiking and biking trails, where we ourselves engage in primitive trail running every day! We often stop at one of the shallow, icy creeks along the way and jump in for a quick cold plunge before running the rest of the way home.
Your tiny cabin includes a custom-designed wood-fired Russian sauna. Nothing beats ending a long day in the woods with a relaxing night at the sauna! If cold plunges really are your thing, we suggest going down the hill behind the sauna to plunge in the little creek, or just stick your head under the ice-cold spigot outside the sauna building.

Our farm is completely off-grid and runs on solar and generator power, so electric power is limited. You may periodically hear the property generator fire up to add power to the farm’s battery banks. We work hard to plan this for non-invasive times.
The cabin is heated by wood stove, access located outside the cabin and behind it! Once you stoke the fire before bed, the cabin will be plenty warm until well into the next day! It is designed to hold heat, and the sauna door can be opened to allow additional warmth into the room if needed.
Wood is provided and we are happy to help with any fire-building you may need!
Bed is a foldout couch bed that is AMAZINGLY comfortable! Bedding is provided and you are welcome to bring your own if you like. If you are checking in late at night, let us know and we will have the bed folded out and ready for you to collapse in!
The cabin has a fire pit which is temporarily UNAVAILABLE as we had to tear it out to install our new septic system! Fire pit will be back up and running by late February 2021!
The cabin does NOT have kitchen facilities! There is a small sink and dish soap, and most guests choose to set up a small camp stove on the spacious deck and cook coffee, tea (there is an herb box outside the sauna door you can use to prepare fresh herbal tea!), or eggs from our Extras section.
There is a mini refrigerator/freezer on the deck as well, available for your use.
We have five water spigots around the property with fresh mountain water available to campers.

We are surrounded by Pacific Northwest forest which means ferns, elderberries, huckleberries and blackberries in the undergrowth, and cedar, hemlock, alder and more rising up about us. Songbirds abound in season! The huge old growth stumps all around remind us of the towering, ancient forest that once grew here and some still have the hundred-year-old marks of the old logging equipment used to fell them. One of our ongoing projects on the farm is to restore native plants, raise heritage breeds of animals and promote heirloom plant propagation, and we invite any questions or ideas you bring!
In the summer we sometimes hear people riding ATVs through the prolific hill trails around the area. We also occasionally hear (ourselves or a neighbor or a logging crew) chainsaws running in the summer as everyone prepares firewood for the winter, and clears overgrown roads. It’s just part of the life out here!
We are naturally blessed with the seasonal pests of the woods, be sure to prepare your bug spray if you are coming in the summer!

Our farm is home to chickens, ducks and turkeys. We also have two very friendly Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs that patrol the property freely, and several farm cats.
Be advised that our livestock guardian dogs bark periodically throughout the night and day to warn away predators and keep us and our livestock safe. They are not locked up as this would, of course, make them useless at protecting us from predators. Owing to this, and also to the nature of the woods being home to bear, cougar, bobcat, coyote, beaver, deer and many other wonderful regenerative wildlife, we strongly suggest keeping food in a closed cooler or in your vehicle.
Thanks to the vigilance of our dogs, we have not encountered any predators here on the land, but you may still find them in the surrounding woods. The dogs tend to stay close to the house to guard their “flock” (us, and the livestock).
Seasonally, we have a Farm Market open, and we are always happy to show you around the bird pens and talk about animals. In the spring, you may be able to help milk a cow if that’s something you’d enjoy!

For guests staying for a longer visit: Bellingham is just thirty minutes away to the north and Burlington thirty minutes to the south, and believe it or not, Whole Foods DOES deliver to our property (they require over 24 hour lead time so plan ahead)! You can drive in to town for shopping and eating, or just enjoy staying at your campsite and get food delivered.
Acme and Everson are two delightful, charming towns 30 and 45 down delightful country roads.
Lake Whatcom is either a twenty-minute drive away, or a 30-minute hike through the woods. Reed Lake and Cain Lake a a fifteen-minute drive away or a long two-mile hike down the gravel road.

Classy cozy cabin.
Andrea and her family are wonderful hosts! My partner and I were welcomed by smiling faces and the cutest pups! The sauna was magical and felt incredible after jumping in the creek which is located directly behind the cabin. Waking up to the sound of rosters was definitely one of my favorite parts of the stay. We would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you for having us!
Nice getaway; good sauna!
We stayed at the “Tiny cabin + sauna” which was nice and clean. Cabin is small (tiny) as advertised, but comfortable. As is was winter, we really enjoyed the sauna and the front porch area was great to cool off at instead of a cold plunge in water. Andrea’s two dogs are very friendly and even went on our hikes through the woods with us!! First day no snow, but woke the next morning to a winter wonderland. Their property is very spacious with beautiful trees, especially brushed with fresh snow. Would recommend if you are looking for a quick getaway from the city.
Tiny, cozy and cute cabin
The tiny cabin was homey and cozy! We stayed one night but wish we could have been there longer. Enjoyed going back and forth from the in-house sauna to the snow. Made good friends with the dogs and other pets on the property. Andrea was an exceptional hostess, answering my many questions promptly and helping us find our way to her property! I would recommend this stay to everyone :)
Breathed in new life this weekend!
The host was friendly, more then well prepared for my stay, and it made for a smooth stay. I feel so relax and restored. My husband and I don't get time away from the kids. So it was was nice to find a romantic getaway to reconnect and have some us time. It's an animal friendly environment and the views bring you back to life. I HIGHLY recommend anyone to stay, for a solo vaca, and or romantic getaway. I'm obsessed with saunas and the fact there was one in my cabin made it a dream. I wanted to stay for days.
My husband and I had a lovely stay! The cabin is tucked by the creek on the hill above the house. It has a big beautiful porch with a mini fridge/freezer. The cabin is clean, cozy, and well stocked with extra towels blankets, and other essentials. The sauna is absolutely lovely! It heats up quickly and stays warm for hours, heating up the whole cabin over night. Andrea was incredibly helpful! She kept the sauna lit and stoked and was available for anything else we needed. Two of the world’s friendliest Great Pyrenees also greeted us when we arrived and in the morning. Such a lovely bonus! Highly recommend. It’s the perfect little getaway outside of Bellingham.
A return to my childhood
Where to start, if you’re looking for a place to truly getaway and check out from the daily grind check out Andrea’s tiny Cabin. The property is tucked away in the forest surrounded by giant trees.
In addition to an amazing location there are chickens, turkeys and two mini polar bears (giant white puppers) roaming the property. Needless to say I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
The cabin itself has everything you can want, there are even quilts on the rocking chairs located on the cabins deck to keep you warm! As well as drinks in the fridge and a wide array of essential oils in the cabin, which I appreciated. I had an amazing nights sleep.
This cabin reminded me of my childhood living on my grandparents farm. I look forward to returning when I need a break from life.
One last thing, Andrea and her husband Gary are amazing people. I felt they truly cared about my experience. They lit the fire for the sauna and checked on it’s condition several times throughout my stay. We shared some great stories and by the end I felt like we were family.
My partner and I had an amazing time staying at the cabin. It was all set up and ready for us when we arrived! Check in was easy, and the hosts are wonderful and very friendly, as were the farm animals. Exploring a few of the surrounding woods was exciting. We were even able to do an evening fire and enjoy the cooler weather before it rained. I can’t wait to do it again and go on the logging trails!
