Kids are free!

We purchased his property in 1981 when it was 70 acres and have been able to add to it until we are the proud owners of the 100 acre wood.  In 39 years it has grown more beautiful and now we want to share it with others who will appreciate a peaceful getaway.

With Covid, we are limiting bookings to one group at a time.

There is a brand new 16' X 20' tent platform at the dam end of the lake that you can drive to.  Pictures soon.

There is a 14' X 9' tent platform at the upper edge of the lake. We will let you know if it is dry enough to drive too or if you will have to stay on the gravel and walk a short ways.

Currently, a reasonable amount of firewood for an evening is provided. Additional bundles of wood are available for $5.00.  Bring cash please.

One beautiful campsite on the creek is about a 5 minute hike in and we recommend trekking poles as there is a narrow stretch that can be slippery.  The tent site is 12' X 7' . This site has a stone fire ring and we will provide an evenings worth  of firewood.

Our spring fed lake is about 2.5 acres and is wonderful for a dip on hot days. We have bass, crappie, catfish and grass carp for catch and release.  We have a paddle boat and numerous kayaks available for the summer season.

There are no bright lights to hamper the night sky stargazing and the stars above the lake can be glorious.

We have numerous trails on the property that we are in the process of mapping and marking.

The spacious outhouse was built in the spring of 2020 , has solar lighting as well as motion detector light inside. There is a 3 season handwashing station. In winter, please bring hand sanitizer.

We have a filter on the warm weather sink for delicious drinking water.

The kitchen consists of a refrigerator, 2 burner stove, BBQ grill, seasonal cold water sink with water filter and a beautiful granite counter.  You will have to provide plates, pans, utensils etc. and you will need to heat the water for dishwashing at this time. (We have some pans for that.)  There are multiple picnic tables and chairs. We want to remind campers that there are bears and raccoons here though we have not had any problems. Please keep food and trash secured.

This a beautiful, wild, peaceful place with limited cell phone service. We live on the property are are available to answer questions and for any emergency. Because it is wild, please keep your eyes open for snakes and protect yourself from ticks, mosquitoes and poison ivy.

We are 6 miles from Kibler Valley on the Dan River with recreational releases for Class 2 white water kayaking in the summer. We are close to Class 1 kayak and canoe river runs as well in Danbury NC along with hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains and Hanging Rock State Park.  We are not far from the Rock Castle Gorge trail and Buffalo Mountain trail. We are close to the legendary Mayberry NC , also known as Mt Airy NC and many wineries and breweries in NC and VA. The world famous Primland Resort is 15 miles away.

Because of Covid, we are only taking one booking at a time so you can choose your spot and have the whole place to yourself and your group.  Groups are limited to 10 people.

Patricia's place was the perfect get away! Beautiful view of the lake and she has hiking trails around the property. Lots of open space and plenty of firewood. I would highly recommend this place for new or experienced campers.

Communication was excellent, the spot was sublime, and our camping expectations are now through the roof. They provided all the fire wood we could have needed (and more) on the two frigid nights we camped. We had to arrive very late after dark. They gave such incredible directions it was a breeze finding it. They hung lovely string lights near the campsite where we pitched our tent and if you turn them off you can see every star in the sky! Looking out over the water while we enjoyed burgers cooked on the gas grill (they provided) was unforgettable. Due to covid we had the whole place to ourselves and saw no one but the hosts the whole time! We can't wait to come back with our kayaks when it's warm. Not that we need to bring ours, they provide plenty of water crafts including several kayaks and fishing gear.

Toad Lake was not only beautiful scenery, but it also had so many activities to do. Whether you want to go hike the trails, go in the paddleboat or kayak, play some corn hole, or just sit by a fire and enjoy being away. This was an amazimg stay and we will absolutely be back.

On top of everything the hosts were absolutely the best!

This place is a real gem. The lake is beautiful and we really enjoyed the paddle boat and kayak. The outhouse was really really nice and clean and even has the foot pump to wash your hands!! I didn’t use the outdoor shower. It was a bit chilly for me but the setup looked great. We enjoyed the hiking trails as well. We can’t wait to go back! The hosts Patricia and Steve are so friendly and welcoming.

Best glamping ever! My friend and I were so lucky to enjoy this place with our dogs. The land is stunning and the amenities were made for large groups. We had it all to ourselves given their current COVID policy.

We can't wait to go back with more people and enjoy a dip in the lake.

Wild Toad Lake was fantastic! A perfect little spot tucked up in my mountains near Hanging Rock. The host were great and came down upon our arrival to ensure we didn’t have any questions. We are absolutely looking forward to coming back!
