Pitch your tent beside our stream on a grassy site with a fire ring, table and chairs. Firewood is provided. The site is on the edge of a flat, bottomland field where our two goats, Spunky Wee and Scavenger Wool, live. They will love your company! Across the stream is a grassy hay field adjacent to a horse pasture, where the neighboring horse farm's horse often graze on a hillside, above which the Massanutten Ridge rises. We have found several old Native American arrowheads in the field while gardening; the foundation remnants of an old grain mill are also located on the property nearby, which might date to pre-Civil War era.

We are in a fantastic biking location: the winding back country roads make for wonderful road bike excursions. We are also just minutes down the road from the Western Slopes trails, over 25 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails. Other great hiking trails are nearby as well, and the Blue Ridge Mountains (Appalachian Trail) are an easy half-drive. Our area abounds with wineries and breweries, both in bucolic settings with gorgeous views or in downtown Harrisonburg, which is a 10-minute drive away, and also home to a variety of great dining options. Other options include the water park at the Massanutten Resort, just around the mountain from us, or kayaking on the Shenandoah River. Or spend a quiet day on the property in the shade of the sycamores, listening to the water flow by.

David was an amazing and kind host! The spot is perfect, babbling brook, sweet goats, and a great fire pit. Basically zero bugs except for the beautiful fireflies!

David’s property is great, and the campsite was exactly what we were looking for! The stream was clean and cool and my kids had a blast playing in it for hours. We felt very welcomed, and were invited to visit the goats who were so cute! Firewood being included and the table and chairs already at the site made this a super convenient stay. The site felt super private but is only 10 minutes into Harrisonburg which is so convenient.
Only negative for us was the access road to drive to the site…somehow I missed that 4WD is recommended and had a little trouble in my minivan. We made it, but bottomed out hard at one point and we would have been nervous to attempt the hill after a rain. So just be aware of your vehicle’s ability!

What a great stay! Thanks to David and his family for letting us kick back for the weekend on their land and relax by the stream. This property is very clean and well manicured. I will be booking this again in the future.

This was one of my favorite Hipcamp stays so far. The site was right beside the stream, a mulberry tree, and a field with the sweetest goats. The site is accessible with an AWD vehicle, which makes it nice to have everything right beside your site. David’s area was set up beautifully with a table and chairs + an additional small table and chairs around the rock fire pit. There’s also potable water, seat cushions, and a porter john available. You have stream views, field views, and across the stream you have mountain + farm views where you can watch the neighboring horses and resident whitetail. We will absolutely be back to this hidden gem!
