Not so private but nice views.
Steve’s property is in a great location for easy access to Winchester and Stephen’s City. The view really is quite nice and his property is well maintained. Other reviews talk about road noise and is it is certainly noticeable and consistent, but tolerable. Our only concern is that the spot is basically in Steve’s front yard with the house immediately behind you. The owners did a nice job respecting our privacy, and Steve was friendly and accommodating, but it does feel quite exposed.
If you’re looking for a place to set up and sleep, it’s fine. Not really a place to hang out on a lazy day.
Tear drop camping under the stars
Steve wasn’t available to meet but my interactions with him over text were very helpful, fast, and friendly. His property is beautiful- we got a clear night and a great look at the stars and sunrise in the morning. I wouldn’t recommend this if you want complete privacy as there is a road nearby and his home is within site. Neither were disruptive to us.
I recently used Hipcamp for the first time on a car camping road trip from Georgia to Maine. I used Hipcamp to fill in the blanks for points along the where all I needed was a place to spend the night. I want a safe place to camp that has a campsite that fits my needs hosted by a responsive but not intrusive property owner. Steve and his property certainly met those needs nicely. The beautiful surroundings of his property and the privacy of the camping spot were nice pluses. The only minus is there is road noise from the nearby highway. That might be a problem for a light sleeper. I am not and I slept great.
Our first trip using Hipcamp could not have been better! As described site, beautiful views, welcoming host… we will be back on our next trip!
Thanks Steve
Very nice setup. I stayed a night traveling through the area. Steve is good host, made great recommendations for dinner and had a good night’s sleep. Highly recommend!
Beautiful. I loved the views and the rolling hills. I camped with the top of my tent off and the stars were amazing. I thought the local highway might be a little noisy but it didn’t bother me at all. Very scenic area and the host was super nice. I would recommend it highly
Steve met me when I arrived and was friendly and helpful. I backed through the "driveway" to the site overlooking the highway and in front of their home. The site is as described and yes, do bring your own potty set up. A bit tricky to find an inconspicuous view from both the house and road. Doable. The lawn is well tended. I would recommend this site although wear earplugs if traffic noise bothers you. (Late a night not that much traffic.)
