Short hike site: This is the first of the 3 private wooded hike-up sites. Located up the trail in the woods as shown on the map. If you arrive before about 7:30pm, I may be able to assist with some hauling with my atv and trailer, or you can drive and drop your gear next to the creek (please not super late out of courtesy to creek people) to carry the rest of the way, probably about a 2-3 minute walk partly uphill from there. Then final parking is at my house about a +/- 10ish minute trek from the site. This isn’t the right site for a ton of heavy gear.
Medium hike site: This is the second of the 3 private wooded hike-up sites. Located a few minutes further than Woods 1 uphill along the trail in the woods on the ridge, see the map in pictures, this site is really great, very spacious and open, lots of tents can fit here, I’d guess at least 5. Same deal as Woods 1 with the possibility of assistance with gear. Then final parking is at my house about a +/- 12ish minute trek from the site. This isn’t the right site for a ton of heavy gear.
Longer medium hike site: This is the third of the 3 private wooded hike-up sites. Located at a back corner of the property, still in the woods but with gorgeous views out and across the neighboring farmland. Also spacious and open, can fit at the very least 3 tents, and likely more. Same deal as Woods 1 and 2 with possible assistance with gear, this site is another few minutes further than Woods 2, see the map in pictures. Then final parking is at my house about a +/- 14ish minute trek from the site. This isn’t the right site for a ton of heavy gear.
We are located 14 miles from the Swift Run Gap entrance to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park.
3 miles from the local Octonia Stone Brewery, Wolf’s Fixins Barbecue, and Jack’s Shop Kitchen among numerous other restaurants, and 8 miles from Madison’s Bald Top Brewery.
There’s a Walmart 5 minutes away for supplies, and also a Food Lion just a little further away.
If you like the decorative arts, there are two great shops showcasing local artists nearby - Noon Whistle in cute little Stanardsville, and Mad Arts on 29 in Madison County.
There are ssssssooooooo many wineries in the area. Within a 10 mile radius: Montifalco, Reynard Florence, Early Mountain, Kilaurwen, Burnley, Barboursville, and Horton. To name a few.
There are at least 5 great antique stores along the 29 corridor within 3 miles of us.
There’s also Highlands Golf Park and Pirate Pete’s miniature golf just a few minutes away. Lake Pelham isn’t quite a half an hour up 29, where you can kayak, canoe, and paddleboard with your own equipment or rent theirs for $5/hour last I checked.

Our “short hike” campsite was a nice private place that really felt out in the wilderness even though it was on private property. Lots of available wood to use which was nice, and the trees and birds were very all pretty to camp around.
As stated, it’s not very accessible and takes quite a while to walk in and out. Also as stated, there is highway noise which can become quite apparent at night so bring earplugs if that bothers you. Easy to start a fire and pitch a tent! Close to Shenandoah NP.
Awesome! Seriously amazing! I did the medium hime, which was a 15min walk with a short uphill, but i thought it was perfect! Lot of dried wood/sticks around to use, overall great experience
My suggestion is to add 2 additional solid logs to the existing one to make it perfect
We stayed at the medium long hike spot and thought it was rather perfect! The hike up was around 15 minutes with a little incline uphill. So if staying here, packing on the lighter side will be most convenient. Will definitely come back :)
Wonderful camping in the woods
Lovely secluded campsite in the woods with firepit and pit toilet. Hannah and her husband were wonderful hosts. Near Shenandoah National Park. Absolutely great find! Highly recommend.
Hannah's site was very pristine and lovely and I would recommend it to anyone! My friend's and I had a delightful stay, and would certainly come back anytime we're in the area.
Really nice during the day
Hannah's property is attractive and conveniently located. Everything that she can control was great -- she was responsive and helpful, and our site near the field's edge and the creek was great. Unfortunately, factors outside of Hannah's control caused us to leave after staying only one of our planned two nights. Cows woke us up mooing at 2 am (we love cows, but had no idea they were that loud), and the neighbor's rooster started crowing at 3:55 am (I checked my watch). It seems like others haven't had this experience, which is great, because aside from the inability to sleep well, we really liked Hannah's camping area and how nice she was.
