Field corner site: This is the first of the 3 drive-up possibility grass field sites (no paving, no gravel) and is therefore situated less privately than the 3 woods hikeout sites. It’s the closest to the house, but is located in a dip in the field which sets it decently off by itself. It’s right next to the cow field fence, so you may experience a visiting moo or whiffs and views of a few cow flops and you will hear the rooster and goats and some dogs. It will accommodate 2, mayyyyybe 3 tents. All sites are primitive spots with no amenities other than a pit toilet in a privacy tent and a fire ring.
Midfield site: This is the second of the 3 drive-up possibility field sites (no paving, no gravel) and is therefore situated less privately than the 3 woods hikeout sites. This site is at the side of the small field located maybe 300 feet back from my house. It is also right next to the cow field fence, so the atmosphere described in Field 1 applies here too.. It will accommodate 2, mayyyyyybe 3 tents.
Stream site: This is the third of the 3 drive-up possibility grass field sites (no paving, no gravel). It is set along a creek among a grove of trees at the edge of the field. You will also hear the rooster, goats and dogs here. It is very spacious and open, and can accommodate I’d guess at least 4 tents within the trees, and more if you spill over into the field. My house is visible in the distance, but I can not make out the site itself or the occupants from the house. All sites are primitive spots with no amenities other than a pit toilet in a privacy tent and a fire ring.
We are 3 miles from the local Octonia Stone Brewery, Wolf’s Fixins Barbecue, and Jack’s Shop Kitchen among numerous other restaurants and 8 miles from Madison’s Bald Top Brewery. There’s a Walmart 5 minutes away for supplies, and also a Food Lion just a little further away. If you like the decorative arts, there are two great shops showcasing local artists nearby - Noon Whistle in cute little Stanardsville, and Mad Arts on 29 in Madison County. There are ssssssooooooo many wineries in the area. Within a 10 mile radius: Montifalco, Reynard Florence, Early Mountain, Kilaurwen, Burnley, Barboursville, and Horton. To name a few. There are at least 5 great antique stores along the 29 corridor within 3 miles of us. There’s also Highlands Golf Park and Pirate Pete’s miniature golf just a few minutes away. Lake Pelham isn’t quite a half an hour up 29, where you can kayak, canoe, and paddleboard with your own equipment or rent theirs for $5/hour last I checked.

This was our second time staying on Hannah’s property, and I’m confident we’ll be back again. Last time it was under 30 degrees and there was ample firewood and she was sweet to check in. It was almost 100 degrees this weekend, but the shade from the trees and the stream made it bearable. We walked to the edge of the property and found a meadow to look out at that was sincerely beautiful - we donned it the Shire! Our dogs love it here. The sound of the cows and rooster woke us up every morning.
She’s a wonderful host, very caring and amenable and the land is well maintained but still has the primitive, rustic feel. Gorgeous property. Love the sycamore trees scattered about, too!

I had such a great stay at Hannah’s place. She was so gracious of a host and even let me change my camp site to be down near the lovely creek. I was allowed to roam about on the beautiful property and enjoy the sounds of the neighboring farm life. This was a last minute booking, but I will definitely stay here again when I’m planning to hike in Shenandoah. It’s so close to the Swift Run Gap entrance!

The campsite was great and easily accessible! Hannah was super helpful in giving us a heads up of where amenities where located, any issues we might deal with, and giving us a heads up that our site maybe muddy. I would absolutely recommend this site!
VERY cute and cozy place! Lots of firewood and natural tinder that was great for starting and maintaining our little fire. The "toilet" was very useful! The privacy tent was great, and they kept toilet paper, hygeine products, and hand sanitizer inside as well, which was very helpful! Great place, would recommend highly!
